• Wins again Sunday
Winn (3-3) allowed a run on three hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out five and picking up a win over the Pirates.

Advice: Winn fired four shutout frames before coughing up a run on an RBI groundout in the fifth. He's allowed exactly one run over six innings in three consecutive starts, earning a win in each. Winn has registered a terrific 1.96 ERA with a 21:6 K:BB over his last 23 innings, lowering his season ERA to 3.18. He's currently lined up for a start in Philadelphia next weekend. • Stumbles in San Francisco
Jones (2-3) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Giants.

Advice: All three runs against Jones scored during a disastrous third inning. He gave up five hits in the frame, including solo homers by Thairo Estrada and Mike Yastrzemski to start things off. Jones' historic strikeout pace slowed down as he forced only seven swinging strikes in the subpar outing. As impressive as the right-handed rookie has been, he's been tagged with seven homers through his first six starts. He'll carry a 3.18 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home against the Rockies. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Dane Dunning strikes out 10 in 69-pitch victory
Dane Dunning yielded two runs — one earned — in 5 1/3 innings and struck out 10 against the Reds in a win Sunday.

Advice: Dunning threw just 69 pitches, which is the fourth-lowest total in a 10-strikeout game since pitch-count data became complete in 1988. The lowest total is 55 pitches in 3 2/3 innings of relief work by Tyler Alexander in 2020. Norm Charlton struck out 10 in a 67-pitch start in 1989, and Chris Sale fanned 12 on just 68 pitches for the Red Sox six years ago. Dunning moved to 3-2 with a 4.13 ERA. He’ll be a decent play versus the Royals next time out. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Andrew Abbott can’t overcome poor first in defeat
Andrew Abbott gave up four runs over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Rangers.

Advice: All of the runs scored in the first. Two came on an inside-the-park homer, but it was a legit inside-the-park homer and not one the defense could have done much about. The other two were produced by a regular old homer from Adolis García. Abbott went on to strike out seven and walk none, so this was a pretty solid day for him. He deserves better than a 1-3 record for his 3.27 ERA. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • No mound progression yet
Whitlock (oblique) has not thrown off a mound yet in his recovery, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Whitlock has been on the 15-day injured list with an oblique injury since April 17, but he doesn't appear to be nearing a return quite yet. Manager Alex Cora said Sunday that the right-hander is "feeling better" but he "still feels it" in regards to his left oblique strain, barring the 27-year-old from progressing with any mound work. Chase Anderson was asked to start Thursday against the Guardians and with Whitlock still unavailable, Anderson could stay in the rotation for the time being. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

  • Pitches into ninth versus Tampa Bay
Fedde (2-0) earned the win after he pitched 8.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out nine batters in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Rays.

Advice: Fedde tossed three scoreless innings before he surrendered a solo homer to Isaac Paredes in the top of the fourth frame. He later allowed another run in the top of the ninth when attempting to finish off the complete game, exiting with a runner on second and one out in the final inning. The 31-year-old has now recorded back-to-back quality starts while he's given up just three total runs over 22 innings in his last three outings. Fedde will carry a 2.60 ERA into his next projected start Friday in St. Louis. Rotowire.com 39 minutes ago

  • Marcus Stroman can’t survive fifth versus Brewers
Marcus Stroman yielded four runs and five walks in four-plus innings Sunday against the Brewers.

Advice: Stroman kept pitching out of trouble early, but the fifth started with a walk, an infield single, an RBI double, a three-run homer and another walk before he was finally pulled. In all, Stroman allowed six hits, walked five and hit a batter. He seems pretty lucky to have a 3.69 ERA through six starts. Last year, he had a 3.95 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP with just nine homers allowed in 136 2/3 innings. His WHIP is 1.43 at the moment, and he’s given up five homers in 31 2/3 innings. • Tobias Myers gives up two homers to Yankees
Making his second big-league start, Tobias Myers gave up four runs in five innings Sunday against the Yankees.

Advice: Myers struck out five and walked none, but homers from Aaron Judge and Anthony Volpe did him in. It’s likely that he’ll remain in the Brewers rotation for now and make a third start next weekend versus the Cubs. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

  • Struggles early against Texas
Abbott (1-3) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven in Sunday's 4-3 defeat to the Rangers.

Advice: Abbott struggled early, surrendering a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, including an inside-the-park homer to Wyatt Langford, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. The left-hander was able to settle down after the difficult first frame, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings to end his outing. Abbott entered Sunday having given up two or fewer runs in each of his five starts in 2024, but he'll now carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Orioles.
