  • Rafaela homers in win over Rays
    Ceddanne Rafaela went 1-for-3 with a home run and a sac bunt in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.

    Advice: The 23-year-old got a little bit lucky on a 344-foot home run that was well-hit at 102.5 mph off the bat but would have only been a home run in eight MLB stadiums. However, it continues a solid stretch of production for the rookie who has gone 16-for-52 (.308) over his last 15 games with three home runs, 13 RBI, seven runs, and one steal. He still has 14 strikeouts to just one walk over that span, so his long swing will continue to be an issue for him as he adjusts to MLB pitching, but we’re starting to see some of the fantasy potential shine through, which makes him worthy of an add in deeper formats.   • Nick Gonzales hits first homer of season vs. MIL
    Nick Gonzales went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers.

    Advice: Gonzales homered in the fourth inning to score Connor Joe, giving the Pirates their first runs on the afternoon. Offense was hard to come by for the Pirates in this one, as they were held to just three hits on the night in the losing effort.     The Giants recalled Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

    Advice: Luciano has spent the entire season with Sacramento so far, slashing .266/.399/.344 with 20 RBI across 158 plate appearances.     J.P. Crawford (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Report: Mets moving on from veteran Joey Wendle
    The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports the Mets are designating Joey Wendle for assignment.

    Advice: Sherman adds that Yohan Ramirez will also be jettisoned from New York’s 40-man roster ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Phillies. Wendle signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Mets during the offseason and has contributed just a .522 OPS with zero homers and one steal in 17 contests.     Advice: Winn gets a shot in the leadoff spot for the first time this season following a pair of multi-hit performances. The 22-year-old is off to a nice start this season, batting .283/.346/.372 with zero homers and six steals in 129 plate appearances. The lack of over-the-fence pop so far is a concern, but the on-base skills have been there.
