      Advice: Candelario nearly missed a grand slam in the first inning and settled for a three-run double. This was just his second multi-RBI effort in 34 games this season. He's still battling a season-opening slump, but Candelario's bat has shown life of late. He's hit safely in four of the last five games, going 7-for-20 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI. Perhaps this recent five-game run will prompt a move up the batting order -- Candelario opened as the team's cleanup hitter but has since moved to the lower-third.       Advice: Santander's eighth-inning blast was what ultimately forced extra innings Saturday. The outfielder has gone deep three times and driven in seven runs over his last five games. For the season, Santander is sporting a .217/.301/.449 slash line with seven long balls, 25 RBI, 20 runs scored, nine doubles and a triple. He still has yet to attempt a stolen base this season.       Luis Arraez hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Padres a 2-1 win over the Dodgers on Friday.

      Jeimer Candelario hit a solo homer Thursday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Candelario got the Reds on the board with a solo blast off Slade Cecconi in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old has driven in just 12 runs over 36 games in 2024, and the homer is the fourth of the year. Better things should be ahead for Candelario in the coming months, if not sooner.
