    • Extends throwing distance
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Rodriguez (shoulder) has extended his throwing program out to 60 feet, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Rodriguez had to pause his throwing program in early April due to discomfort in his left shoulder, but the fact that he's extended his throwing distance is an encouraging sign. He was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on April 17, which would make the left-hander eligible to return in mid-June. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

    • Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) throwing at 60 feet
Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that Eduardo Rodriguez is now throwing at a distance of 60 feet.

Advice: He has yet to throw off of a mound, but the fact that he has been playing catch and gradually increasing his distance is at least an encouraging sign. He’s going to require a long and slow build up — and several minor league rehab starts — before he’s ready to make his Diamondbacks’ debut. Don’t expect to see him on a big league mound before the end of June. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

    • Brandon Lowe (oblique) could return on Monday
Brandon Lowe (oblique) could be activated from the injured list and return to the Rays’ lineup on Monday.

Advice: The 29-year-old slugger will restart his minor league rehab assignment on Saturday and is set to play games on back-to-back days at Triple-A Durham. If all goes well with that, he’ll be cleared to rejoin the Rays for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox. Lowe has been close to returning before, only to suffer a setback and require some extra time, so we’ll believe it when we see it. Rotoworld 60 minutes ago

    • Austin Riley held out of lineup again on Friday
Austin Riley (side) was held out of the Braves’ starting lineup for the fourth consecutive game on Friday night.

Advice: It’s still encouraging that there has been no chatter about a possible trip to the injured list, which would seemingly mean that Riley is making progress and should return to the lineup any day now. Zack Short will once again start in his place at the hot corner and will bat ninth against Matt Waldron and the Padres. Rotoworld Today, 3:02 pm

    • Continuing assignment Saturday
Lowe (oblique) will resume his rehab assignment Saturday at Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Lowe initially landed on the injured list April 12 with a strained right oblique, and he played four rehab games in the minors before a setback temporarily halted his assignment Sunday. Now that he's been cleared to get back on the field, the plan is for Lowe to play two more games with Durham before returning to Tampa Bay on Monday ahead of its upcoming series against the Red Sox. • Out again Friday
Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Riley won't be starting for a fourth consecutive game as he deals with inflammation in his left side. Instead, Zack Short will draw another start at the hot corner and bat ninth. Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said that Riley is feeling better but isn't quite ready yet, per David O'Brien of The Athletic. He remains day-to-day. Rotowire.com Today, 12:37 pm

    • Abrams is back in the lineup Friday
CJ Abrams is back in the Nationals lineup, batting first against the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Abrams was out of the lineup when the Nationals faced Garrett Crochet and the White Sox on Wednesday. It was a mostly routine day off with a tough matchup for the lefty. Abrams got off to a hot start this season, but is now hitting .205 with one home run and eight RBI over his last 20 games. Rotoworld Today, 12:32 pm

    • Carroll returns to the lineup on Friday
Corbin Carroll is back in the Diamondbacks lineup, batting second against the Tigers on Friday.

Advice: Carroll came off the bench and pinch ran and scored a run on Wednesday. Fantasy managers have to be frustrated with Carroll’s production so far this season as he’s hitting just .193 with a .539 OPS. Only seven qualified hitters have a lower batting average entering play Friday. It’s not what you want from a first round pick. Rotoworld Today, 12:25 pm

    • Stott returns to the lineup Friday
Bryson Stott is back in the lineup, batting fifth for the Phillies against the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Stott came off the bench on Thursday and had an RBI single and RBI fielder’s choice against the Mets. He’s hitting .280 with a .842 OPS on the season. Rotoworld Today, 12:07 pm
