    • Jeimer Candelario (knee) held out again on Friday
Jeimer Candelario (knee) was held out of the Reds’ starting lineup once again for Friday night’s tilt against the Cardinals.

Advice: It’s the third straight game that the 30-year-old slugger has missed due to the knee issue. There haven’t been any indications yet that the injury will require a trip to the injured list, but if it lingers through the weekend the Reds may be forced to make a move. Noelvi Marte will start at the hot corner on Friday night while Spencer Steer mans first base for the Reds. Rotoworld Friday, 1:09 pm

    • Jake Fraley (calf) remains out of Reds’ lineup
Jake Fraley (calf) remains out of the Reds’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Cardinals.

Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder was held out of Thursday’s lineup due to a calf injury. He underwent an MRI exam to determine the severity of the issue, the results of which are not yet known. It’s at least encouraging to hear that he hasn’t been placed on the injured list — at least as of now. The Reds will trot out an outfield of Nick Martini, Will Benson and Stuart Fairchild on Friday evening. Rotoworld Friday, 1:07 pm
    • India stays red hot with two-hit game Thursday
Jonathan India went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and an RBI against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: India started the game with a single and scored on Elly De La Cruz’s RBI triple. In the second inning, he had an RBI double to give the Reds a 2-0 lead. India is now on a nine-game hitting streak and he’s 17-for-33 (.515) in that stretch. In June, he’s 30-for-80 (.375) with 18 runs scored and 14 RBI in 24 games. India’s average is up to .272 on the season with a .771 OPS and 32 RBI.

    • Trea Turner reaches three times in losing effort
Trea Turner went 2-for-4 with three runs scored on Thursday in the Phillies’ loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Turner also drew a walk in this one, reaching base safely in three of his five plate appearances. The 30-year-old shortstop is batting .300 (12-for-40) with one homer and zero steals since returning from the injured list back on June 17. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:27 pm

    • Garcia blasts 15th home run in loss Thursday
Adolis Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia’s home run was his 15th of the season. It hasn’t been Garcia’s best season, but he’s showing what it means to possess a solid floor. He’s only hitting .219, but he’s still on pace for around 30 home runs with 15 stolen bases and run totals in the mid-80s. Even though Garcia isn’t repeating the monster season he produced last year, he’s still carving out a pretty nice year for himself.

    • Jeimer Candelario out Thursday with knee tendinitis
Jeimer Candelario (knee) remains out of the lineup for Thursday’s contest against the Cardinals.

Advice: Candelario will get another day off to rest and recover as he continues to manage right knee tendinitis. The expectation is that he’ll be able to manage the ongoing issue moving forward, but if he’s unable to return in a couple days, the Reds might not have a choice besides sending him to the injured list. • Jake Fraley sitting out Thursday with calf injury
Jake Fraley (calf) is absent from the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Fraley underwent an MRI on his right calf on Thursday and the club is still awaiting the results. The 29-year-old corner outfielder was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup due to a lower leg contusion. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him wind up requiring a trip to the injured list. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:19 pm
    • Undergoes MRI on calf
Fraley underwent an MRI on his right calf Thursday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: It's not clear what the result of the exam revealed or if they're in yet, but Fraley will miss a second straight start Thursday after being a late scratch from Wednesday's lineup. Santiago Espinal is getting the call at designated hitter for Cincinnati. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:03 pm
    • Remaining out Thursday
Candelario (hamstring) isn't in the Reds' lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Manager David Bell said Wednesday that Candelario has been dealing with hamstring tendinitis for the past week, and while the team still doesn't plan on placing the 30-year-old on the injured list, the injury will cause him to miss a second consecutive game. Spencer Steer will get the nod at first base as a result, allowing Nick Martini to start in left field and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Thursday, 1:59 pm
