    • Daulton Varshgo not in the lineup on Thursday
Daulton Varsho (knee) is not in the Blue Jays’ lineup on Thursday.

Advice: Varsho was removed from Wednesday night’s game with a left knee contusion after an awkward play at first base where he tried to lunge to avoid a tag from Logan Webb. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury, but Varsho has not been playing well enough to be in fantasy starting lineups anyway. Davis Schneider will take his place in the outfield and bat seventh on Thursday. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

    • Oneil Cruz back in the lineup on Thursday
Oneil Cruz (hamstring) is back in the lineup on Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz had been held out of the lineup for the last two games while battling a hamstring injury, but he’ll make his return in time to face Aaron Civale on Thursday. He should be put back in all fantasy lineups given how hot his bat was before the two-game absence. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

    • Not in lineup
Varsho (knee) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Varsho will need at least one day off to recover from a left knee contusion, which he sustained in the third inning of Wednesday's 10-6 win on an awkward slide into first base. His absence from the starting nine will allow Davis Schneider to pick up a start in left field. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago

    • Tommy Edman scratched with “general soreness”
Tommy Edman (wrist/ankle) was scratched from Thursday’s rehab start with “general soreness.”

Advice: Wednesday was the first day Edman had played the field since beginning his rehab assignment, so this might not be a setback or any residual injury issues. We’ll have to see how Edman’s body feels on Friday and whether or not he’s able to get back on the field. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago

    • Back in lineup
Cruz (hamstring) will start at shortstop and bat third Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz missed two games after making an early exit from Monday's contest due to hamstring soreness, but the issue appears to have subsided Thursday. Since the beginning of July, the 25-year-old has gone 8-for-24 with two homers and five RBI over seven games. Rotowire.com Today, 10:34 am

    • Bowden: Phillies linked to Jazz, Robert Jr., more
According to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden, the Phillies “have made center field a priority” and are interested in several high-profile targets.

Advice: Bowden claims the Phillies “have been linked to Luis Robert Jr. of the White Sox, Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the Marlins, Cody Bellinger of the Cubs, Jake McCarthy of the Diamondbacks, and Jacob Young of the Nationals, among others.” McCarthy and Young would likely cost the least to acquire, but the Marlins have expressed a willingness to deal Chisholm during his first fully healthy season, so the Phillies could look to gamble there. Bowden believes it would be “surprising” if the Phillies didn’t land a new centerfielder at the deadline. Rotoworld Today, 9:56 am
    • Getting afternoon off
Chourio is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Blake Perkins will pick up a start in the outfield while Chourio heads to the bench after he had been included in the lineup in each of the previous six games. The 20-year-old rookie has been one of the hotter hitters in the Milwaukee lineup of late, slashing .340/.397/.547 with seven extra-base hits (two home runs, five doubles) and two stolen bases over his last 15 games. • Notches 15th save
Miller gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 15th save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The flame-throwing righty bounced back from a shaky appearance in a non-save situation his last time out. Miller hasn't been quite as dominant of late as he was to begin the season, but he's still been very effective -- since the beginning of June he's posted a 2.84 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB through 12.2 innings while converting four of five save chances. • Grabs eighth win
Bassitt (8-7) earned the win over the Giants on Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Two of the three runs charged to Bassitt came across in the opening frame after he surrendered a leadoff single to LaMonte Wade and allowed him to advance to second on a passed ball. The right-hander then gave up back-to-back RBI singles with two outs, though he wouldn't permit another run until the fifth. He induced 10 whiffs in the contest, but also walked four batters for the second consecutive start. Bassitt has now gone at least five innings in 13 straight outings and has won two of his last three. Rotowire.com Today, 5:48 am
