• O’s activate Grayson Rodriguez to start vs. M’s
Orioles activated RHP Grayson Rodriguez from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Rodriguez will take the ball on Saturday against the Mariners at Camden Yards following a nearly three-week stint on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. The 24-year-old burgeoning fantasy ace might have some workload limitations right out of the gate, but it’s a nice matchup for fantasy purposes against a Seattle lineup that has scored the fifth-fewest runs in baseball so far. • Javier Báez drives in five as Tigers crush D-Backs
Javier Báez drove in five runs while going 3-for-4 in a blowout win Friday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Before Friday’s game, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch gave Báez a vote of confidence. It worked. The infielder doubled twice and reminded of the version that was once was one of the best middle-infielders in the sport. Even with this strong game Báez is still slashing an ugly .185/.216/.254 over 130 at-bats, but this was a reminder that there’s still some talent left in the 31-year-old’s bat. • Drives in five
Baez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, five RBI and a run scored in Friday's 13-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Baez was given a vote of confidence from manager A.J. Hinch earlier this week, and he made good on it with his best game of the season. This was the shortstop's third multi-hit effort this season and the first time he's driven in multiple runs. Baez is still slashing a paltry .185/.216/.254 with one home run, 18 RBI, nine runs scored, six doubles and six stolen bases over 38 contests. He's set to remain the starting shortstop for the foreseeable future, as the Tigers have no obvious candidates to push him for playing time. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:20 pm

  • Triple, home run in win
Henderson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, an RBI triple and a second run scored in Friday's 9-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: Henderson led off the game with a solo shot off Bryce Miller, his 13th homer of the year, before driving in a second run with an opposite-field triple in the seventh inning. While Henderson's gotten off to a great start this year, he'd been slumping a bit coming into Friday's contest, going 0-for-11 in his prior three games. Overall, the 22-year-old shortstop is slashing .263/.339/.569 with 29 RBI, 32 runs scored and six steals across 189 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:09 pm

  • Gunnar Henderson powers Orioles past Mariners
Gunnar Henderson crushed a leadoff homer, tripled and drove in a pair of runs on Friday night, powering the Orioles to a lopsided 9-2 victory over the visiting Mariners.

Advice: Henderson got the home half of the first inning started with a bang, clobbering the second pitch thrown by Bryce Miller for a 402-foot (101.3 mph EV) solo shot — his league-leading 13th of the season. The 22-year-old superstar also drove in Jorge Mateo with a run-scoring triple in the seventh inning, then scored on an RBI double off the bat of Adley Rutschman. With his two-hit attack, Henderson is now slashing .263/.339/.569 with 13 homers, 29 RBI and six stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:39 pm

  • Day off Friday
Urshela isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Friday's game against Arizona, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Urshela has gone 0-for-6 since returning from the injured list Tuesday, and he'll get a chance to clear his head Friday. Matt Vierling will fill the open spot at third base and bat fifth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:20 pm

  • Will not be benched
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Monday that he has no plans to bench Baez, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: "He's going to play, a lot," Hinch said. Baez has again been one of the least productive regulars from an offensive standpoint in baseball, slashing just .167/.200/.222 with one home run over 135 plate appearances. He's hit only .223/.265/.346 since signing a six-year, $140 million contract prior to the 2022 campaign. Baez also has graded out poorly defensively in 2024 with minus-4 Outs Above Average, although he was plus-9 in OAA in 2023 and the Tigers still seem happy with his defense. Given that the underwhelming Zach McKinstry would represent their likely alternative at shortstop, the Tigers appear willing to continue riding it out with Baez in hopes that he can rebound to at least a competent level at the plate. • Tigers won’t bench Baez
The Tigers won’t bench shortstop Javier Baez.

Advice: “He’s going to play, a lot,” manager A.J. Hinch said. Baez has the lowest OPS (.422) among qualified hitters by nearly 100 points. The Tigers still owe Baez $72 million after this season. Something has to give at some point, but the Tigers will keep playing him for now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 am

  • Clubs another homer
Devers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Thursday's 7-5 loss to the Rays.

Advice: Devers took righty Zack Littell yard for a solo homer in the second inning, marking the third baseman's second straight game with a long ball. All six of Devers' homers this season have come off right-handers, and he boasts a .302/.394/.593 slash line against opposite-handed pitching. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:16 pm
