    • Back from injured list
The Mets reinstated Diaz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Diaz has been on the injured list since late May due to a right shoulder impingement. He fired two shutout innings with High-A Brooklyn during a rehab assignment, and manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that the Mets will make Diaz their closer once again after the team had used a committee approach leading up to the injury. The 30-year-old righty currently owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP alongside a 30:7 K:BB through 20 innings on the year and has converted five of his nine save opportunities. • Edwin Díaz returns from IL as Mets’ closer
Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Díaz is slated to resume closing immediately for the Mets, though the Mets won’t want him to go long without pitching if they don’t generate a save chance these next two days. Díaz missed the minimum 15 days with a shoulder impingement. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:48 am

    • Tosses sim game
Wacha (foot) completed a three-inning simulated game Thursday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Royals will wait and see how Wacha feels Friday following the sim game before deciding on his next steps, but the right-hander will most likely head out on a minor-league rehab assignment if he's not feeling any renewed discomfort in his fractured left foot. If Wacha is cleared to make a rehab start Monday or Tuesday, he could be an option to return from the 15-day injured list and slot back into the Kansas City rotation next weekend. • Michael Wacha throws simulated game
Michael Wacha, on the IL with a fractured foot, threw a three-inning simulated game Thursday.

Advice: Wacha had no problems today, and if he’s still feeling good tomorrow, the Royals will likely pencil him in for a rehab start. He’ll probably need just one outing in the minors before rejoining the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:38 am

    • Gets on base four times
Soler went 2-for-2 with two walks and one run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Astros.

Advice: Soler has found some success at the plate in June, going 11-for-37 (.297) over 10 contests this month. He's also drawn four walks over his last three games, though his 9.6 percent walk rate is still his lowest since 2015. While it's a positive to see the designated hitter make more consistent contact, he's still struggling to hit for power. He's batting .217 with a .661 OPS, seven home runs, 18 RBI, 26 runs scored, nine doubles and no stolen bases over 56 games this season. Soler's lowest OPS in a season is .503 in 2017, but he played in just 35 games that year. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:18 pm

    • Tallies three hits Wednesday
Arenado went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in a 4-2 win against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: Among Arenado's three hits was a third-inning RBI double that was St. Louis' only extra-base hit of the contest. The veteran third baseman batted .167 over his first seven contests in June but has perked up since, putting together a four-game hitting streak during which he has gone 8-for-16. The hot stretch has improved his season slash line to .264/.320/.386. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:00 pm

    • Nico Hoerner swipes two bases in return to lineup
Nico Hoerner went 1-for-4 with two steals Wednesday against the Rays in his return to the Cubs lineup.

Advice: Hoerner hadn’t started since suffering a hairline fracture in his hand Thursday. His two steals tonight gave him nine for the year, eight of which have come since May 1. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:13 pm

    • Logan O’Hoppe (groin) not in lineup on Wednesday
Logan O’Hoppe (groin) is not in the Angels’ starting lineup on Wednesday.

Advice: The 24-year-old backstop took a hard foul ball to the groin area on Tuesday, prompting his removal from the game. He’s still a bit sore on Wednesday so manager Ron Washington thought it would be wise to give him an extra night off. Matt Thaiss will do the catching for the Angels on Wednesday and will bat fifth against right-hander Slade Cecconi and the Diamondbacks. O’Hoppe should still be considered day-to-day. • Remains sidelined Wednesday
O'Hoppe (groin) isn't in the Angels' lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: O'Hoppe had to leave Tuesday's game after getting hit below the belt by a foul tip, and he will remain out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest. Matt Thaiss will fill in behind the dish while batting fifth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:28 pm
