    • Throws six scoreless in no-decision
Steele did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Steele cruised through five innings then ran into some trouble in the sixth, but he escaped a bases-loaded jam and departed with a 2-0 lead at 93 total pitches. Steele earned his third quality start in his past four outings, but he is still winless on the season after the bullpen allowed three runs. Despite the tough luck, Steele's 3.22 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through nine starts are actually lower than his ratios last season, when he finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting. He will try to earn his first win against the Giants next Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:53 pm
    • Steele tosses six scoreless in no-decision
Justin Steele threw six shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Steele gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. He was in line for his first win of the season before the bullpen blew the lead. Steele lowered his ERA to 3.22 with the effort. After missing all of April due to injury, he’s now completed at least five innings and had at least five strikeouts in six consecutive starts. Steele finished fifth in the National League Cy Young award voting last year and appears to have regained that form this year. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Giants at home next week.

    • Tosses sim game
Wacha (foot) completed a three-inning simulated game Thursday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Royals will wait and see how Wacha feels Friday following the sim game before deciding on his next steps, but the right-hander will most likely head out on a minor-league rehab assignment if he's not feeling any renewed discomfort in his fractured left foot. If Wacha is cleared to make a rehab start Monday or Tuesday, he could be an option to return from the 15-day injured list and slot back into the Kansas City rotation next weekend. • Michael Wacha throws simulated game
Michael Wacha, on the IL with a fractured foot, threw a three-inning simulated game Thursday.

Advice: Wacha had no problems today, and if he’s still feeling good tomorrow, the Royals will likely pencil him in for a rehab start. He’ll probably need just one outing in the minors before rejoining the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:38 am

    • Start pushed back to Friday
Gore won't start Thursday against the Tigers in Detroit as previously scheduled and will instead take the hill Friday versus the Marlins in Washington while he recovers from a fingernail issue, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: The Nationals will have Patrick Corbin take the hill Thursday in order to build in an extra day of recovery time for Gore. Though Gore is currently in line to take the hill Friday, fantasy managers will want to ensure he hasn't suffered a setback with the fingernail issue leading up to the series opener with Miami that may prompt the Nationals to push him back in the schedule. Gore will head into the weekend with a 5-5 record, 3.57 ERA and 1.37 WHIP through 68 innings on the season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:55 pm

    • Cruises to eighth win
Wheeler (8-3) picked up the win in Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Two of the hits came on the first two batters he faced as Boston pushed across a run in the bottom of the first inning, but Wheeler shut the opposition down the rest of the way. The right-hander exited after 88 pitches (59 strikes) with his fifth straight quality start and 11th of the season, putting him in a tie for the major-league lead with four other pitchers. Wheeler will take a 2.16 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 95:27 K:BB through 87.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Baltimore. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:06 am

    • Allows one run in short start
Maeda (abdomen) allowed one run on one hit across four innings and did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4, extra-inning loss to the Nationals. He walked four and struck out five.

Advice: Maeda was dialed in other than the four walks, which matched a season high, and he managed to lower his ERA a bit to 5.89. The righty threw only two pitches in his last outing Wednesday before departing with right abdominal discomfort, but he wasn't forced to miss any turns through the rotation. The Tigers were still understandably cautious with Maeda, as he tossed just 77 pitches Tuesday. The veteran should be able to go a bit longer in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Sunday against the Astros on the road. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:23 pm

    • Zack Wheeler contains Red Sox over seven innings
Zack Wheeler allowed one run on three hits over seven innings in a win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Wheeler struck out four and walked one, so it wasn’t an overpowering outing, but he also allowed just one extra-base hit and an average exit velocity on balls in play of just 79 mph. Wheeler induced just five whiffs on 43 swings for a 12 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. He’ll now take a 2.16 ERA into a tough showdown this weekend against the Orioles. • Kenta Maeda allows one run Tuesday in no-decision
Kenta Maeda gave up one run over four innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Nationals.

Advice: Maeda was a bit all over the place in this one as he struck out five, handed out four free passes, and needed 77 pitches (40 strikes) to complete four frames. A bases-loaded walk to Jesse Winker in the third inning represented the lone tally against him in this one as gave up only one hit over four frames to limit the potential damage. He’ll bring a lackluster 5.89 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 35/16 K/BB ratio across 44 1/3 innings (11 starts) into a road outing on Sunday against the Astros. Rotoworld Tuesday, 6:34 pm
