    • Absent from Tuesday's lineup
Carroll is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: One day after being moved down to the No. 8 spot in the Diamondbacks' batting order, Carroll is now out of the lineup altogether. Both games have come versus left-handers. Carroll is hitting a woeful .192/.280/.281 during his massively disappointing 2024 campaign. Jake McCarthy is in center field Tuesday. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
    • Corbin Carroll not in lineup Tuesday vs. southpaw
Corbin Carroll is absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Giants.

Advice: Carroll was dropped to the eighth spot in Arizona’s lineup earlier this week for the first time this season and will take a seat on Tuesday evening for the first time since May 15 with lefty Kyle Harrison toeing the rubber for San Francisco in this one. The 23-year-old has struggled to a calamitous .561 OPS with two homers and nine steals through 58 games. Rotoworld 7 minutes ago
    • Back in majors
The Pirates recalled Suwinski from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Suwinski's stint back in the minors lasted less than two weeks and he slashed just .250/.276/.429 with one home run and a 13:1 K:BB over 29 plate appearances with Indianapolis. However, the Pirates have a need in center field with Ji Hwan Bae (undisclosed) going on the 10-day injured list and Michael Taylor the paternity list. Suwinski should draw starts at least while Taylor is away but could be sent back down to the minors once the latter returns. Rotowire.com Today, 9:36 am
    • Pirates recall Suwinski from Triple-A Indianapolis
Pirates recalled OF Jack Suwinski from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Advice: Suwinski spent a little over a week in Triple-A, but he’s back to take the place of Ji Hwan Bae, with Bae hitting the injured list. Suwinski hit just .174/.268/.297 while with Pittsburgh prior to the demotion in 2024, but showed flashes of brilliance in 2023. Still, outside of those desperate for power in NL-only formats, Suwinski should probably be left on the waiver wire. Rotoworld Today, 9:26 am
    • Swipes ninth bag
Lindor went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: Hitting leadoff against Washington lefty MacKenzie Gore, Lindor got right back up after seeing an 11-game hitting streak snapped Sunday. The veteran shortstop has swiped three bags over the last five contests, giving him nine steals on the season, and over his last 15 games, he's slashing .339/.397/.516 with five doubles, two homers, seven runs and eight RBI as he puts a sluggish start to the season behind him. • Notches 10th save
Alvarado picked up the save in Monday's 3-1 win over Milwaukee, striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not allow a baserunner.

Advice: Alvarado picked up his 10th save of the season, his first since May 21. The southpaw blew his first save of the season May 24 in Coors Field, but he has otherwise pitched well since his last save, recording a 1.50 ERA with six strikeouts and two holds over six innings of work. • José Alvarado silences Brewers to net 10th save
José Alvarado fired a flawless ninth inning on Monday against the Brewers to collect his 10th save of the season.

Advice: Alvardo got the call to protect a two-run lead in the final frame after Jeff Hoffman worked a flawless eighth inning and needed just 10 pitches (seven strikes) to notch his first save since May 21. There isn’t a ton of clarity regarding the pecking order for Phillies manager Rob Thomson, but it appears Hoffman and Alvarado will continue splitting save opportunities depending on matchups. • Drops to eighth in batting order
Carroll is starting in center field and batting eighth Monday night against the Giants, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: Carroll's struggles at the dish have continued, as he's slashing .205/.289/.333 over his last 10 contests. Skipper Torey Lovullo noted that he'll likely bump Carroll down in the order against lefties moving forward, per Weiner. This change clears the way for Gabriel Moreno to move into the No. 2 spot in the order Monday evening. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:10 pm
    • Corbin Carroll dropped to eighth in lineup
The Diamondbacks have Corbin Carroll batting eighth tonight against Giants left-hander Erik Miller.

Advice: Gabriel Moreno is batting second in his place. This might just be a special-occasion switch, since Miller is being looked at as an opener and dropping Carroll means he might not bat until righty Spencer Howard enters the game. The Diamondbacks typically dropped Carroll in the lineup against lefties last year, but that hasn’t been the case this season; he’s hit first or second against both lefties and righties, aside for a 10-game span in late April and early May in which he was dropped to the bottom of the order versus everyone. Arizona faces a lefty again tomorrow, so unless Torey Lovullo comments, we’ll have to wait and see whether this is a one-time thing, a change versus lefties or a semi-permanent move. The slumping Carroll’s batted-ball numbers got better for a time last month, even if his actual statistics didn’t. Unfortunately, though, they’ve faded again lately. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:52 pm
