    • Colt Keith exits Saturday with left knee discomfort
The Tigers announced that Colt Keith was pulled from Saturday’s game against the Brewers due to left knee discomfort.

Advice: The rookie second baseman collided with outfielder Akil Baddoo while both were chasing a pop up into shallow right field. It sounds like he was fortunate to have avoided any serious injury, but he may end up needing a day or two before he’s ready to return to the Tigers’ lineup. Rotoworld Today, 3:13 pm

    • Dealing with knee soreness
Keith was removed from Saturday's game against Milwaukee with left knee discomfort, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Keith and Akil Baddoo collided in right field while running at full speed, but Keith took most of the impact and was removed from the contest during the third inning. Considering Keith was able to walk off the field without any assistance, it seems like he's dealing with a minor injury. Still, the Tigers will likely continue to evaluate him throughout Saturday evening. Detroit will finish its three-game series against the Brewers on Sunday before having a team day off Monday. • Removed from game after collision
Keith was removed from Saturday's game against the Brewers in the third inning after colliding with Akil Baddoo while tracking down a fly ball, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Keith was running full speed toward the foul line in right field and collided with Akil Baddoo as the ball dropped. The second baseman looked to be grabbing at his left leg before walking back to the dugout unassisted. Zach McKinstry replaced Keith at second base. A status update on Keith should come later Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 2:09 pm

    • Colt Keith leaves game after collision in outfield
Colt Keith was removed from Saturday’s battle against the Brewers after he collided with teammate Akil Baddoo in shallow right field.

Advice: It’s not immediately clear where he took the brunt of the full-speed collision, but he was obviously shaken up afterwards. The good news, is that he was able to walk off the field under his own power. Expect him to head for further evaluation — and perhaps a trip through the concussion protocol. The Tigers should have an update on his status after the game. Rotoworld Today, 2:09 pm

    • Tommy Edman progresses to hitting from both sides
Tommy Edman (wrist) has been cleared to take batting practice from both sides of the plate.

Advice: Edman continues to work his way back from offseason surgery on his right wrist and remains without a definitive timetable to return to St. Louis at the moment. The versatile switch-hitting 29-year-old figures to be ready around the All-Star break, but he’s going to need a couple weeks of at-bats in the minors to get back up to speed in the wake of such an extended layoff. • Officially demoted to Triple-A
The Twins optioned Julien to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

Advice: Julien put up a 132 OPS+ last season as a rookie and opened the 2024 campaign as the Twins' leadoff man against right-handed pitching. While he started off with an .830 OPS in April this season, he posted a .482 OPS with a 36.5 percent strikeout rate since May 1. Julien could regain a regular role with Minnesota later this season, but he'll head to St. Paul for now as he looks to get back on track. Willi Castro will likely take over as the Twins' primary second baseman, with Kyle Farmer being mixed in against lefties. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:40 am

    • Twins option Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul
Twins optioned INF Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: As anticipated, the 25-year-old infielder is sent out to make room on the active roster for the return of Royce Lewis on Tuesday. Julien had been mired in quite the slump — slashing just .169/.274/.181 with zero homers, five RBI and a 36/12 K/BB ratio over 95 plate appearances over his last 32 games dating back to April 28. Hopefully playing every day at the Triple-A level is enough to cure what ails him. We haven’t seen the last of Julien in the big leagues this season. Rotoworld Monday, 6:14 am

    • Twins likely to option Edouard Julien to Triple-A
The Twins are expected to option struggling infielder Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Yankees in New York.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder had a closed-door meeting with skipper Rocco Baldelli after Sunday’s game and was then seen getting hugs and handshakes from teammates. Take that as you will, but someone needs to be sent out to make room for the return of Royce Lewis on Tuesday and all signs point to Julien. He’s hitting just .207/.309/.367 on the season, though he does have seven homers, 17 RBI and six stolen bases. Fantasy managers who may have been relying on him for next week should make other arrangements. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:18 pm

    • Demotion could be coming
Julien had a meeting with manager Rocco Baldelli and subsequently met with teammates after Sunday's win over the Astros, which could indicate the second baseman is headed to Triple-A St. Paul as Royce Lewis (quadriceps) is set to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Julien hit out of the No. 9 hole Sunday and went 0-for-2 with a walk, which dropped his season slash line to .207/.309/.367 through 58 games. The 25-year-old has a 34 percent strikeout rate this year, and the return of Lewis provides an opportunity for Julien to get back on track in a lower-pressure environment. The Twins have yet to make an official announcement regarding Lewis and who he'll replace on the MLB roster. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:12 pm
