    Advice: As anticipated, the 31-year-old hurler will rejoin the Red Sox’ rotation on Wednesday night against the Braves. Prior to landing on the injured list, Pivetta had posted a 1-1 record, 0.82 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and a 13/1 K/BB ratio over 11 innings through his first two starts. Given the fact that he threw just 62 pitches in his last rehab start — and the tough matchup against the Braves — fantasy managers may want to wait and see on this one before re-inserting him into lineups.     The Giants recalled Ramos from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

    Advice: The 24-year-old has a .953 OPS in 30 games for Sacramento this season and will now receive a look in the big leagues as Jorge Soler (shoulder) lands on the injured list. Ramos has a career .470 OPS in the majors, but he's played in just 34 games and has never received an extended run of playing time. The 24-year-old outfielder has always struggled in his opportunities with the big league club, but he was off to a terrific start at Triple-A — slashing .296/.388/.565 with eight homers, 21 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 30 games.     The Giants placed Soler on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Soler's shoulder has caused him to miss the last three games, and he'll now officially be sidelined for another several days. The move is retroactive to Sunday, so it's possible the 32-year-old slugger is able to return in a week, but the Giants will wait and see how his shoulder heals.     The Red Sox designated Short for assignment Wednesday.

    Advice: Short has been swapped off the 26-man active roster in favor of utility man Romy Gonzalez (wrist), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. He'll also lose his spot on the 40-man roster, as Short had no minor-league options remaining and will thus have to be subjected to the waiver process before potentially heading to the Red Sox's top affiliate in Worcester.
