    • Zach Neto singles, steals base in shutout loss
Zach Neto singled and stole a base on Thursday in the Angels’ shutout loss at the hands of the Athletics.

Advice: Los Angeles mustered only four hits and were shut out for the second straight contest and dropped their fourth consecutive game. Not great. Neto was one of the few bright spots for the Angels in this one as he picked up his 12th stolen base of the year. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:22 pm

    • Impresses in loss
Henderson went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and a double in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Henderson opened the scoring with his third-inning blast, which was his first homer in seven games. The shortstop remains excellent atop the Orioles' order, having gone 15-for-41 (.366) over his last 10 contests. On the year, he's up to 27 homers, 60 RBI, 75 runs scored, 13 stolen bases and a .289/.382/.605 slash line through 86 games. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:04 pm

    • Logs steal in loss
Neto went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Thursday's 5-0 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Neto has collected three steals over his last nine games despite going a poor 6-for-32 (.188) in that span. The shortstop is up to 12 steals on 18 attempts this season. He's added a .247/.297/.427 slash line with 11 home runs, 38 RBI and 33 runs scored over 84 contests. While he offers decent power and speed, he'll need to make more consistent contact to be reliable in the majority of fantasy formats. Rotowire.com Thursday, 4:21 pm

    • Gunnar Henderson crushes 27th homer in O’s loss
Gunnar Henderson went 3-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Orioles’ loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Henderson was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle by the fifth inning of this one as he continues to build a credible American League MVP Award resume heading towards his first All-Star Game appearance in a few weeks. The 23-year-old emerging franchise cornerstone took Mariners starter Bryce Miller deep in the third inning for his 27th round-tripper of the season and finished with his ninth three-hit performance of the first half. He’s batting an absurd .344 (42-for-122) with nine homers and six steals over his last 30 games. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:07 pm

    • Jeremy Peña homers, reaches thrice in victory
Jeremy Peña went 2-for-4 with a homer in a 5-3 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Advice: Peña extended Houston’s lead to 5-3 with a homer in the seventh inning off Trevor Richards. The 26-year-old shortstop has homered seven times in 2024, and a three-reach game helps improve his slash to .280/.327/.400 over 325 at-bats. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:52 pm

    • Picks up seventh steal
Cruz went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: Cruz reached base on a single in the first and proceeded to steal second but failed to score. Cruz doesn't run often, but he's successful when he does, as he's only been caught stealing once in 12 attempts since the beginning of 2023. The 25-year-old is slashing .240/.294/.425 with 12 homers, 37 RBI, and seven steals this season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:49 pm

    • Xander Bogaerts starts rehab assignent Thursday
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The veteran shortstop has been sidelined since May 20th with a fractured left shoulder. The team originally claimed his absence would be two months, which would be almost exactly after the All-Star break. Considering Bogaerts will need a few rehab appearances to get his timing back, the Padres could wait until after the break to call him up, but there’s a chance we’d see him at the end of next week if all goes well. The 31-year-old has not been great this season even when healthy, hitting .219/.265/.316 in 47 games with four home runs and four steals. It’s fair to wonder how often Bogaerts will run when he comes back since head-first slides into second base could risk aggravating the shoulder injury. Given his modest power output, if his stolen base totals take a meaningful hit, he would likely be a middle infield option for deeper leagues but not a starting shortstop in shallower formats. • Three-hit effort in loss
Winn went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Winn has gone 7-for-14 over his last three games. The shortstop cooled off a bit in June, hitting .255 with a .669 OPS over 26 games, though he remains the near-everyday leadoff hitter. For the season, Winn has an excellent .293/.337/.420 slash line with four home runs, eight stolen bases, 29 RBI, 33 runs scored, 17 doubles and three triples across 77 contests. • Moves up to No. 3 spot
Merrill will start in center field and bat third in Thursday's game versus the Rangers.

Advice: Merrill had one start out of the leadoff spot back in mid-April and batted fifth a couple times last month, but this will be his first-ever start from the third spot in the Padres' batting order. The rookie outfielder has earned the assignment by slashing a robust .352/.380/.727 with nine home runs, 21 RBI and two stolen bases over his last 23 games. Jake Cronenworth has typically hit third since Fernando Tatis (quad) went down and has a day off Thursday, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Merrill receive more opportunities from the middle of the San Diego batting order.
