• Mitch Haniger hits grand slam in victory over ARI
Mitch Haniger hit a grand slam in the Mariners’ 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Haniger broke open the game with a grand slam to turn a 2-1 lead into a 6-1 cushion. The 33-year-old veteran has driven in 18 runs with the salami over 26 games — putting him at a triple-digit pace — and he’s swatted four homers on the young campaign. There will always be health concerns with Haniger, but he can be an effective option when he’s on the field. Rotoworld 1 minute ago

  • Emerson Hancock holds D-Backs to one run over six
Emerson Hancock gave up just two hits and one run in six innings to pick up a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Hancock walked two, but he was able to erase any threats with four strikeouts and three double plays. It’s another strong start for the 24-year-old, and outside of one disaster against the Brewers, he’s been an effective option. The question is whether he’s been effective enough to hold off Bryan Woo (elbow), who isn’t far away from returning. He’ll definitely be back on the mound Wednesday against Atlanta. • Rough night vs. LA
Bassitt (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Bassitt allowed a solo home run to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning before imploding in the third, where he allowed another six runs on six hits, with the big blow coming on a Max Muncy three-run homer. It's been a rocky start to the year for the 35-year-old Bassitt -- his ERA is up to 5.64 with a 1.85 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB across six starts (30.1 innings). He'll look to right the ship in his next outing, currently slated for next week against Kansas City. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

  • Picks up win
Hancock (3-2) yielded a run on two hits and two walks over six innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over Arizona.

Advice: Hancock turned in five scoreless frames before a solo shot by Kevin Newman in the sixth inning finally put the Diamondbacks on the board. Hancock has now turned in three consecutive quality starts; during that stretch, he's allowed just four earned runs over 18 innings, lowering his season ERA to 5.06 through 26.2 innings. Hancock is currently lined up for a tough home matchup with Atlanta next week. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Solid against Baltimore
Stripling did not factor into the decision Friday against the Orioles, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Stripling was sharp against a hot Orioles offense, eventually winding up with a no-decision to end a stretch of five straight losses to open the year. The veteran right-hander lowered his ERA to 4.98 with a 1.49 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB through six starts (34.1 innings) this season. Stripling will look for his first win in his next start, currently slated for next week against the Pirates. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

  • Zac Gallen leaves start with hamstring tightness
Zac Gallen was pulled from Friday evening’s start against the Mariners mid at-bat in the sixth inning due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Advice: With as bad as it looked initially on the field, it’s actually encouraging that it’s not an elbow, shoulder or oblique issue that the 28-year-old right-hander is dealing with. The severity of the injury still isn’t known, but there’s a possibility that he may not even require a trip to the injured list. A lot will probably depend on how he wakes up feeling on Saturday, but for now fantasy managers and Diamondbacks’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Dominant again in seventh save
Miller earned the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Orioles, striking out two in a perfect inning.

Advice: Miller delivered another lights-out performance Friday, striking out a pair while stranding the free runner at second in the 10th inning to seal a one-run Oakland victory, earning a second save in as many days. After allowing a pair of runs in his first outing this year, Miller's now held opponents scoreless in his subsequent 11.1 innings while allowing just one hit and one walk in his last seven appearances. The 25-year-old right-hander is up to seven saves on the year as he lowered his ERA to 1.46 with a 0.89 WHIP and an outstanding 18.24 K/9. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

  • Brent Rooker delivers in 10th as A’s edge Orioles
Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 and hit a go-ahead double in the 10th as the A’s edged the Orioles 3-2 on Friday.

Advice: It seemed like the A’s had botched this one after the automatic runner, who had advanced to third on a groundout to open the top of the 10th, was thrown out in a rundown between third and home for the second out of the inning. Shea Langeliers, who hit the weak grounder resulting in the out, didn’t even try to make it to second while the rundown was ongoing, even though he easily could have. Rooker, though, followed that with a double, and Langeliers scored all of the way from first, thanks in no small part to Colton Cowser missing the cutoff man on the play. Rooker is now batting .200/.290/.527, and even though he’s striking out plenty, he shouldn’t have to worry about sitting much against righties in the near future. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago
