    • Jose Miranda scratched due to stiff back Friday
Jose Miranda was scratched from the Twins’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Giants due to stiffness in his back.

Advice: The issue is believed to be minor and isn’t expected to sideline the hot-hitting 26-year-old infielder for long. Willi Castro replaced him in Friday night’s lineup for the Twins and he’ll bat third against Giants’ left-hander Kyle Harrison. Miranda should be considered day-to-day. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

    • Daniel Hudson closes out Tigers on Friday night
Daniel Hudson picked up his fourth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a one-run lead against the Tigers.

Advice: Dodgers’ closer Evan Phillips was utilized in the sixth inning of this one, so manager Dave Roberts turned to Hudson after the Dodgers went ahead in the top half of the ninth inning. Things got interesting in the ninth as the 37-year-old right-hander allowed a pair of one-out walks to Colt Keith and Wenceel Perez, but he battled back to strike out Matt Vierling and then got Riley Greene on a fly ball to center to end it. Hudson has registered a minuscule 1.63 ERA across 38 2/3 innings on the season while chipping in six victories and four saves. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Scratched with back stiffness
Miranda was scratched from Minnesota's lineup ahead of Friday's game versus the Giants due to lower-back stiffness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Miranda was originally slated to start at third base Friday, but instead it will be Brooks Lee at the hot corner with Willi Castro at second base, opening up a spot in the outfield for Matt Wallner. The severity of Miranda's injury remains uncertain, though the Twins may offer more details on his status following Friday's game. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

    • Returns in stride
Flaherty (6-5) picked up the win Thursday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings against the Guardians. He struck out four.

Advice: Flaherty, who had not pitched since June 27 due to lingering back issues, received plenty of run support while holding the Guardians' lineup in check, save for a solo homer in the third by Bo Naylor. Flaherty managed 83 pitches through six innings and was staked with a 10-1 lead by the time he was replaced. It was the fifth time in six starts Flaherty has allowed no more than one run, with the lone exception coming in his previous start, which immediately preceded his two-week hiatus. Flaherty has been a model of consistency in his first year in Detroit, never completing a full seven innings yet also never completing fewer than five through 16 starts this season. Through 95 innings, he's recorded 119 strikeouts to go along with a 3.13 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:29 pm

    • Jack Flaherty returns with six strong innings
Jack Flaherty allowed just two hits and one run while firing six innings to get a win over the Guardians on Thursday in a 10-1 victory for the Tigers.

Advice: Flaherty did issue two walks, but he struck out four in a very impressive outing for the 28-year-old. It was even more impressive when you remember that Flaherty was dealing with back stiffness, but that wasn’t readily apparent at all while the right-hander lowered his ERA to a strong 3.13 for the first-half of the season. Flaherty has been a real find for the Tigers, the question now is if he stays a member of the organization past July. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:33 pm

    • Sitting out All-Star Game
Altuve announced Thursday that he will not participate in the All-Star Game on Sunday in order to "rest a sore left hand," Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The soreness stems from a hit-by-pitch Friday against the Twins, and the 34-year-old has opted for some rest during the midseason break. Altuve sat out one game after being plunked, but he's been back in the starting nine for the past three contests and is in the midst of an eight-game hit streak. Marcus Semien will take over the starting spot at second base for the American League. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:18 am

    • Elly De La Cruz getting day off on Thursday
Elly De La Cruz is not in the Reds’ lineup on Thursday.

Advice: It’s a routine day off for Elly and just his second of the season. Santiago Espinal will start in his place at shortstop. Since May 1st, Elly is hitting .238/.324/.418 in 63 games with a 31.4 percent strikeout rate. Of course, he also has 27 stolen bases and seven home runs to go along with it, which keeps him a must-start player in all fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:44 am

    • Getting rare day off
De La Cruz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: For just the second time all season, De La Cruz will will hit the bench. According to Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer, De La Cruz's absence isn't related to the hand injury he's been managing recently; instead, the 22-year-old is just getting a well-overdue afternoon off while Cincinnati wraps up its series with Colorado with a day game after a night game. De La Cruz won't have much of a chance to catch his breath during the upcoming week while he makes his first All-Star Game appearance next Tuesday in Texas, so the Reds presumably wanted to build in some extra rest for him heading into the Midsummer Classic. Santiago Espinal will step in at shortstop for De La Cruz on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:31 am

    • Falls to Cubs
Burnes (9-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: It's just the second loss for Burnes in his last 11 outings -- still, the right-hander was able to make it through at least six innings for a 14th straight start despite allowing nine hits, matching a season high. Overall, Burnes has lived up to expectations in his first year in Baltimore. He'll head into the All-Star break with a 2.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 110:25 K:BB across 118.2 innings.
