      Yusei Kikuchi fanned nine while allowing one run in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday against the Orioles.

      Advice: The Jays might have preferred more length from Kikuchi today, though going to the pen early didn’t hurt them at all; the middle-relief corps pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings before Jordan Romano blew the game in the ninth.       The Reds placed Lodolo on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left groin strain.

      Advice: It's not clear whether Lodolo was injured during his most recent start Saturday versus the Giants or sometime since then, but either way, he's going to be on the shelf at least for the next couple weeks. The left-hander has been excellent this season, posting a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts.       Reds placed LHP Nick Lodolo on the 15-day injured list with a strained left groin.

      Advice: Lodolo still hasn’t had any arm problems as a major leaguer, but the rest of his body keeps betraying him. The 26-year-old was looking like a potential All-Star with his 3.34 ERA and 43/9 K/BB ratio in six starts since returning from his last round of problems with his left leg.     • Yusei Kikuchi to start Wednesday
      The Blue Jays will have originally scheduled starter Yusei Kikuchi pitch Wednesday and push back Chris Bassitt, who was due to start in Tuesday’s rainout.

      Kikuchi is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Orioles in Baltimore, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: After Tuesday's game was postponed, the Blue Jays hadn't initially named a starter for Wednesday's series finale. Rather than pushing Chris Bassitt back a day in the pitching schedule after he had been in line to take the hill Tuesday, the Blue Jays will instead move up Kikuchi and have him take the hill Wednesday on his normal four days' rest.       Gilbert (3-2) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Royals.

      Advice: Gilbert allowed just four baserunners over the first six innings. He went back out for the seventh, but two walks and a Nelson Velazquez home run ended his outing in unfortunate fashion. It's a significant improvement on the eight-run fiasco he had in Minnesota in his last start, but it's still a second straight loss for 27-year-old. He's pitched to a 3.07 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 61:18 K:BB over 58.2 innings across nine starts this season. Gilbert is projected for a tough road start versus the Yankees his next time out.     • Logan Gilbert takes loss in quality start
      Logan Gilbert lost to the Royals after allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday.

      Advice: All of the runs scored on Nelson Velázquez’s homer with two outs in the seventh, after which Gilbert was immediately removed. Obviously, it was an unfortunate conclusion, but it was still a nice rebound outing after he gave up eight runs last time out versus the Twins.     • Allows season-high four runs
      Crawford (2-2) suffered the loss Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings against the Rays. He struck out six.

      Advice: Crawford did not allow a long ball after having allowed one each over his past two starts (none over his first six outings) but did serve up three extra-base hits on his way to allowing four earned runs for the first time this season. A two-out triple in the first inning by Amed Rosario was the biggest blow while a fourth inning double by Jose Caballero set up Tampa's fourth run and ultimately served as the deciding run that sent Crawford to his second defeat. Despite the relatively subpar effort, Crawford maintains a high-quality 2.24 ERA that he'll take into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Red Sox head to St. Louis for an inter-league matchup against the Cardinals.       Kutter Crawford was charged with four runs over six innings on Monday in a loss to the Rays.

      Advice: Crawford struck out six and only issued one walk. He got into trouble right away with two outs in the opening frame when he gave up a two-run triple to Amed Rosario and a run-scoring single to Richie Palacios. A fourth-inning sacrifice fly from Jose Siri was enough to saddle him with a loss in a low-scoring showdown at Fenway Park. He’ll bring a strong 2.24 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 52/16 K/BB ratio across 52 1/3 innings (nine starts) into a road tilt on Saturday against the Cardinals. Rotoworld Monday, 7:15 pm
