    • Yordan Alvarez diagnosed with right knee contusion
Yordan Alvarez is considered day-to-day after being diagnosed with a right knee contusion on Saturday.

Advice: Alvarez was pulled from Saturday’s battle against the Twins after being plunked by a pitch on his right knee in his previous plate appearance. It appears to have been a precautionary measure though as the Astros won’t even have any imaging done on their 27-year-old slugger. There’s a chance that he gets Sunday off to be on the safe side, but Alvarez shouldn’t be looking at any sort of extended absence. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

    • Has bruised knee
Alvarez was diagnosed with a right knee contusion Saturday and didn't go in for imaging, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Alvarez was hit in the knee by a pitch in the sixth inning of Saturday's game and although he stayed in to run the bases, he was later removed in the eighth inning. Considering he didn't need to undergo imaging, the 27-year-old should be viewed as day-to-day. However, with a team off day coming Monday, the Astros could opt to play it safe and hold Alvarez out of Sunday's series finale against Minnesota. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

    • Exits after HBP
Alvarez was removed from Saturday's game versus Minnesota after getting hit by a pitch, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Alvarez took a 94-mph fastball off his right knee during the sixth inning of Saturday's contest. He initially remained in the game to run the bases despite looking uncomfortable, and Grae Kessinger pinch hit for him during the eighth frame. Houston will presumably take Alvarez in for imaging, and the team should have more information on his injury in the near future. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago

    • Yordan Alvarez (knee) exits after hit by pitch
Yordan Alvarez was removed from Saturday’s game against the Twins a couple of innings after he was plunked in the right knee by a pitch.

Advice: Alvarez remained in the game to run the bases for himself but was walking slowly and hobbling as he made his way to first base. When his spot in the order came back around in the eighth inning, Grae Kessinger was sent out to pinch-hit for him. The fact that the Twins had a six-run lead at the time may have played a role in his removal, but be sure to pay close attention to his status after the game and prior to Sunday’s contest. • Resting versus lefty
Lowe isn't in the Rays' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: After going 1-for-4 with a walk during Friday's series opener, Lowe will retreat to the dugout to begin Saturday's game as left-hander Andrew Heaney starts on the bump for Texas. Amed Rosario will fill the vacancy in the lineup, batting third while serving as the DH. Rotowire.com Today, 11:04 am

    • Giants activate Kyle Harrison for Saturday start
Giants activated LHP Kyle Harrison from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Harrison draws the starting assignment for Saturday’s showdown against the Guardians following a nearly three-week absence due to a sprained right ankle. The 22-year-old southpaw has struggled to miss bats this season at the highest level, but still holds a respectable 3.96 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 68/22 K/BB ratio across 77 1/3 innings (14 starts). • Activated off IL, starting Saturday
Harrison (ankle) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Saturday against the Guardians, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Harrison landed on the injured list June 16 with a right ankle sprain. He was able to forego a rehab assignment, and he isn't expected to face any restrictions in his return to the Giants' rotation Saturday. Through 14 starts this season, Harrison is 4-3 with a 3.96 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 68:22 K:BB over 77.1 innings. To make room for the 22-year-old southpaw, right-hander Spencer Bivens was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Rotowire.com Today, 10:12 am
    • Another big performance
Pena went 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored Friday against the Twins.

Advice: Pena delivered a pair of RBI singles and a sacrifice fly to account for his production. That continued a strong run, as across his last 15 games Pena has maintained a .298 batting average with two homers, 14 RBI and 11 runs scored. His .118 across 86 games exactly matches his mark from 2023, though he's on pace to easily set new career highs in RBI and stolen bases while also hitting .285. Rotowire.com Today, 7:36 am

    • Clutch homer versus Yankees
Yoshida went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Yankees.

Advice: With the Red Sox down 3-1 in the ninth inning, Yoshida crushed a Clay Holmes sinker deep to right field, tying the game and setting the stage for further heroics from Ceddanne Rafaela in the 10th. It was Yoshida's third homer of the season and first since April 20, snapping a 21-game drought that included a six-week absence due to a thumb injury. The 30-year-old may be feeling 100 percent again, however -- over his last nine games, he's batting .364 (12-for-33) with two doubles in addition to Friday's long ball. Rotowire.com Today, 6:53 am
