    • Throws bullpen session
Phillips (hamstring) threw another bullpen session Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Saturday marks Phillips' second round of mound work since landing on the IL on May 5 with a strained right hamstring. He still has yet to face live hitters, but manager Dave Roberts said after Phillips' session that the right-hander is roughly a week away from rejoining Los Angeles' bullpen. • Takes extra-innings loss
Alvarado (1-2) took the loss during Thursday's 11-inning 6-5 loss to the Mets, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and no walks across one inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Alvarado didn't take the mound until the 11th frame with the score tied 4-4 and ended up with the loss. He allowed a single to J.D. Martinez to open up the inning -- scoring designated runner Francisco Lindor -- before Harrison Bader doubled to put two runners aboard. Alvarado managed to retire the next three batters he faced; however, Martinez crossed home plate on a wild pitch to give the Mets an insurance run. Through 18.2 innings, Alvarado owns a 3.86 ERA and is 8-for-8 in save chances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:43 pm

    • Beginning mound work Wednesday
Phillips (hamstring) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Phillips has been on the injured list with a strained right hamstring since May 5, and he resumed playing catch Friday. He will presumably throw multiple bullpen sessions before progressing to facing live hitters, though he shouldn't take long to build back up as a reliever. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 5:23 pm

    • Evan Phillips to throw bullpen session Wednesday
Evan Phillips (hamstring) is slated to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: It’s the first time throwing off a mound for Phillips since hitting the injured list back in early May with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. The hope is that the 29-year-old elite stopper won’t need a rehab assignment before returning to Los Angeles’ bullpen. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:08 pm

    • Locks up eighth save
Alvarado picked up the save Monday against the Mets. He pitched a clean inning with no strikeouts.

Advice: Alvarado collected his first save since May 5 on Monday night, requiring just nine pitches to retire the Mets in the tenth inning. Outside of yielding five runs on Opening Day, the 28-year-old lefty has been a stalwart, firing a 1.06 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB over 17 innings since then. Alvarado will continue to split saves with the rest of the talented Phillies bullpen but should collect the bulk of opportunities. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:13 pm

    • José Alvarado collects eighth save on Monday
José Alvarado tossed a scoreless 10th inning on Monday against the Mets to notch his eighth save of the season.

Advice: Alvarado got the call to guard a one-run lead in the 10th inning after the Phillies finally pulled ahead and needed just nine pitches (seven strikes) to end it. The hard-throwing 28-year-old stopper has converted all eight of his save chances this season to go along with a solid 3.57 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings (19 appearances). • Evan Phillips (hamstring) plays catch on Friday
Evan Phillips (hamstring) played catch on Friday at Petco Park.

Advice: Phillips is working his way back from a Grade 1 right hamstring strain that he suffered back on May 3. The hope here is that the 29-year-old lights-out stopper will be ready to go when first eligible to return in a few days, but that seems extremely optimistic. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status once he progresses to throwing a bullpen session at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Saturday, 7:15 am

    • Progressing through injury
Phillips (hamstring) was out on the field playing catch Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: Phillips was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain he sustained May 3 against Atlanta. He is eligible to return May 19, and the right-hander might only miss the minimum. Phillips has eight saves with a 0.66 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB over 13.2 innings this season.
