    • Joe Musgrove (triceps) could start on Sunday
Joe Musgrove (triceps) is hopeful to return from the injured list to start on Sunday against the Braves.

Advice: That’s certainly surprising. Musgrove landed on the injured list on May 5 due to triceps tendinitis and hasn’t really done much except play catch since then. You would think that he would need to ramp back up a bit and require a minor league rehab start before jumping right back into the swing of things — and perhaps he may — but this sounds like he’s much closer to a return than most had anticipated. • Seiya Suzuki homers, doubles in win over Braves
Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, and two runs scored in a win over the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: The home run was Suzuki’s first since coming off the IL with an oblique strain. The injury came at an inopportune time with Suzuki slashing .305/.368/.525 with a 151 wRC+ before getting hurt. Wednesday is a great sign that he’s fully healthy and ready to start another hot streak. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago

    • Adolis García goes yard for tenth homer Wednesday
Adolis García went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to lift the Rangers to a 4-0 win over the Guardians.

Advice: García knocked a base hit in the fourth inning, then took Nick Sandlin deep for a two-run homer in the sixth to extend the Rangers lead. The 31-year-old slugger has multiple hits in back-to-back games amid a cold stretch. He hadn’t had two hits in a game since April 21. García is up to ten homers while slashing .259/.306/.494 with 34 RBI and four steals across 183 plate appearances. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago
    • Continues strong play Wednesday
Suzuki went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and another run scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Suzuki is batting just .217 in five games since returning from an oblique injury, though he has a strong .280 average and .825 OPS on the season. Those numbers are in line with the .285 average and .842 OPS the outfielder posted last year, when he also delivered a career-high 20 home runs. Suzuki only has four long balls so far in 2024, but he's been a consistent hitter at the MLB level and could get the power rolling in short order. Rotowire.com 53 minutes ago

    • Eyeing Sunday return
Musgrove (elbow) could return from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game in Atlanta, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Dylan Cease is available to pitch Sunday on his normal four days' rest, but the Padres appear to be leaving the door open for Musgrove to return Sunday if he comes out of his bullpen session Wednesday no worse for the wear. Randy Vasquez has stepped in to fill the vacancy in the rotation since Musgrove was placed on the IL on May 5 with elbow inflammation. Rotowire.com Today, 5:35 pm

    • Locks down fifth save
Scott earned the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Tigers, allowing two hits while striking out one in a scoreless inning.

Advice: The Tigers made things interesting with a pair of two-out singles off Scott in the ninth inning before the left-hander struck out Riley Greene, who represented the winning run, closing out Miami's shutout victory. Scott hasn't allowed an earned run in his last 10.1 innings, striking out 12 in that span. He's 5-for-6 in save opportunities with a 2.00 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 19:17 K:BB across 18 innings this season. • Tanner Scott escapes Wednesday with fifth save
Tanner Scott navigated a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Tigers to record his fifth save of the season.

Advice: Scott was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and immediately made things interesting, per usual, giving up back-to-back two-out singles to Javier Báez and Carson Kelly, respectively, before striking out pinch-hitter Riley Greene to end the contest. The 29-year-old lefty has walked a proverbial tightrope this season, managing to convert five of six save opportunities this season despite a troublesome 19/17 K/BB ratio across 18 innings of work. • Mitch Garver (back) likely available off bench
Mitch Garver could be available off the bench Wednesday after missing Tuesday’s game with back spasms.

Advice: Nice to see that Garver is apparently feeling better. Mitch Haniger is starting at DH today. Rotoworld Today, 11:29 am

    • Out Wednesday with back spasms
Garver (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: He'll remain on the bench for the second day in a row while he manages upper-back spasms. Mitch Haniger will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Mariners' designated hitter while Garver rests up. Rotowire.com Today, 11:05 am
