    • Miles Mikolas logs quality start in loss on Friday
Miles Mikolas posted a quality start in Friday’s loss to the Phillies, surrendering three runs on five hits across his six frames.

Advice: Mikolas struck out five batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came during a three-run uprising in the second inning as Brandon Marsh plated a run with a ground ball and Edmundo Sosa crushed a two-run homer. He finished his day with four scoreless innings though to keep the Cardinals in the game. The 35-year-old hurler got eight whiffs on 96 pitches in the contest, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll carry a disappointing 5.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 50/14 K/BB ratio (65 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Astros in Houston. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:58 pm
    • Back in lineup Friday
Hoskins will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth in Friday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Hoskins has been out since May 13 due to a right hamstring strain, and he'll jump back into the lineup after being activated off the injured list Friday. He'll face off against White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:48 pm

    • Brewers activate Rhys Hoskins from 10-day IL
Brewers activated 1B Rhys Hoskins from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 31-year-old slugger will make his triumphant return to the Brewers’ starting lineup on Friday night against the White Sox. Prior to landing on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, Hoskins was hitting .233/.340/.474 with nine homers and 27 RBI through his first 38 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:47 pm

    • Activated from IL
The Brewers reinstated Hoskins (hamstring) from the injured list Friday.

Advice: Hoskins has been on the injured list since he strained his right hamstring during a game against Pittsburgh on May 13. He was originally expected to come off the IL during Milwaukee's upcoming road series in Philadelphia, but the slugging first baseman will instead return a few days early without playing in any rehab games. Hoskins should immediately return to a near-everyday role for the Brewers, though he may see more action as a DH as he gets his hamstring used to playing in games again. Owen Miller was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:42 pm

    • Busch out of lineup Friday
Michael Busch is not in the Cubs’ lineup for their game against the Reds on Friday.

Advice: The Cubs are using Cody Bellinger at first base, Mike Tauchman at DH with Ian Happ, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Seiya Suzuki in the outfield. Busch takes his turn on the bench Friday. With Crow-Armstrong back in the majors, the Cubs lineup is getting crowded. Busch is hitting .241 with eight home runs in 53 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:31 am

    • Absent from Friday's lineup
Busch is not in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Reds.

Advice: It sounds like the Cubs plan to play Pete Crow-Armstrong in center field more often after they recalled him from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. That will mean more Cody Bellinger in right field and at first base, where he is playing Friday. Busch could have his playing time dip as a result. The rookie infielder had a stretch in mid-April when he homered in five straight games, but in 37 contests since then he's slashed just .202/.296/.316 with two homers and a 38.6 percent strikeout rate. • Two more steals in win
Thomas went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Thursday's win over Atlanta.

Advice: Thomas reached base and stole second in each of his first two trips to the plate while also coming around to score a run in the latter at-bat. The outfielder has been on a tear since returning from the injured list and is now batting .353 (6-for-17) through four games in May with three RBI, four stolen bases and four runs scored, swiping a pair of bags in back-to-back contests. • Logan O’Hoppe hits solo homer in loss to Yankees
Logan O’Hoppe hit a solo homer in a loss to the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: O’Hoppe gave the Angels a 1-0 lead with a solo blast off Carlos Rodón in the fourth. The second-year backstop has gone deep seven times with a decent — if a bit boring — .259/.311/.429 slash in 2024. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:24 pm
    • Lane Thomas swipes two bags in win over ATL
Lane Thomas stole two bases and scored a run in a victory over Atlanta on Thursday.

Advice: Thomas continues to be one of the better stolen-base threats in the sport, and it’s worth pointing out that his 15 swipes have come in just 26 games. The speed has been there for the 28-year-old. Now, about that .212/.278/.327 slash line. Those numbers should continue to get better, but in the meantime, he’s definitely helping fantasy managers in one category. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:00 pm
