    • Kyle Gibson keeps Reds bats in check in win
      Kyle Gibson allowed just one run on two hits in six innings in a win over the Reds on Tuesday.

      Advice: Gibson struck out six and walked one and the only real damage was a solo home run to Will Benson in the sixth inning. The 36-year-old posted an impressive 15 whiffs for a 34 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW. Gibson used all six of his pitches on the night, and had a 38 percent whiff rate on the sweeper while his cutter pounded the strike zone for a 41 percent CSW.       Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) has progressed to on-field running.

      Advice: Hoskins is making steady progress from a right hamstring strain and could be ready to return to Milwaukee’s lineup next Monday when they open up a series against the Phillies.       Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Hoskins (hamstring) ran on the field and is progressing in his running program, and it's possible the first baseman returns from the injured list early next week in Philadelphia, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

      Advice: The 31-year-old landed on the shelf May 14 with a strained right hamstring, and he's now ramping up his rehab work after a brief shutdown period. A return for the Phillies series is likely an enticing target for Hoskins, considering he'd spent his entire MLB career in Philadelphia before signing with the Brewers in January.     • Bellinger has two-hit game Monday
      Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 against the Brewers on Monday.



      Advice: It was a quiet day for the Cubs offense as they could only muster one run. Bellinger, however, has been hot at the plate since a slow start early this season. He’s 31-for-104 (.298) since April 13th.

    • Chourio has two hits, RBI Monday
      Jackson Chourio went 2-for-4 with an RBI double against the Cubs on Monday.



      Advice: Chourio tacked on with an RBI double in the eighth inning to extend the Brewers’ lead to 5-0. Despite his lofty prospect status and contract, he’s hitting just .218 with a .603 OPS on the season.

    • Jarren Duran goes 0-for-5 in loss to Orioles
      Jarren Duran went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts on Monday in the Red Sox’ loss to the Orioles.

      Advice: Duran has been mired in a little bit of a funk lately, batting .233 (7-for-30) with one homer and one steal over his last seven contests. It’s an extremely small sample size, but if we frame out a bit more, he’s hitting .262 (32-for-122) with just two homers and three steals over his last 30 contests. The 27-year-old has shown glimpses of immense fantasy potential as a power/speed combo threat, but it hasn’t quite come together completely this season as he sits at only three homers and 11 steals through Memorial Day.     • Michael Busch sits for second straight game
      Michael Busch is not in the Cubs’ lineup on Monday against the Brewers.

      Advice: With the Brewers throwing a left-handed pitcher, Busch will find himself on the bench; however, he was also on the bench on Sunday. The rookie is hitting 12-for-64 (.188) in May with one home run and a 39.2 percent strikeout rate. If he doesn’t start picking it up soon, it’s fair to wonder how much longer the Cubs will keep him in the starting lineup.       Advice: Hoskins will clear a significant hurdle in his recovery from a right hamstring strain, as Monday's activity will mark his first time hitting on the field since he landed on the injured list. While there is still no set timetable for his return to action, it sounds like Hoskins isn't too far off from a rehab assignment. "I feel as good as I can," Hoskins said.     • Lane Thomas activated from the IL
      Nationals activated OF Lane Thomas from the 10-day injured list.

      Advice: Thomas has been on the IL for just over a month with a knee injury. The 28-year-old was tremendous in 2023 but has gotten off to a brutal start in 2024 with a .184/.250/.253 slash line in 22 games. He will remain a fixture in the Nationals’ lineup and should turn things around in the coming weeks. While he may not reach the highs of 2023, he remains a quality MLB outfielder and his 11 steals on the season signal the type of fantasy upside he has.
