      Advice: Bassitt didn't seem to be held back at all after leaving his previous start with neck spasms, tossing 100 pitches Sunday and picking up his third straight victory. The 35-year-old has been part of the decision in all 12 of his starts this season and hasn't yielded more than three runs in an outing since April 26.       Gorman went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

      Advice: Gorman opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning and also provided the Cardinals with their winning run by adding an RBI single in the 10th. This was his fourth multi-hit effort over the last nine games, a span in which he's gone 11-for-32 (.344) with four homers and 10 RBI. He's up to a .223/.310/.457 slash line, 11 long balls, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases through 51 contests. Gorman has been a near-everyday player lately, though the Cardinals called up Jose Fermin on Friday for infield depth, which could lead to Gorman sitting out against some southpaws moving forward.       Cortes allowed three runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out seven during the win over San Francisco.

      Advice: Cortes gave up a run in each of the second, third and fourth frames Sunday. The latter two were via solo homers by Heliot Ramos and Casey Schmitt. Cortes has been tagged with 10 home runs in 13 starts and has already given up multiple long balls in four outings. Sunday's start was his second shortest of the year, and he's now failed to complete six innings in four of his last five appearances. Cortes owns a 3.46 ERA and a 74:15 K:BB through 75.1 frames.       Nolan Gorman went 2-for-4, homered and drove in three runs on Sunday night as the Cardinals triumphed over the Phillies 5-4 in 10 innings.

      Advice: Gorman got the scoring started with a bang, crushing a 367-foot (108.6 mph EV) two-out, two-run shot off of Phillies’ right-hander Taijuan Walker in the opening frame. He then smacked a two-out go-ahead RBI single off of Gregory Soto to give the Cardinals the lead in the 10th inning. Gorman also walked and struck out twice in the ballgame, finishing the evening 1-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .223/.310/.457 with 11 long balls and 28 RBI.     • Nestor Cortes struggles in no-decision on Sunday
      Nestor Cortes struggled in a no-decision against the Giants on Sunday afternoon, giving up three runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, Cortes did manage to record seven punchouts in the ballgame and didn’t walk a batter. Most of the damage done against him came via the long ball, with Heliot Ramos launching a solo homer in the third inning and Casey Schmitt following suit in the fourth. Cortes got 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches in the contest, while posting a CSW of 27 percent.       Finnegan picked up the save Sunday against Cleveland, allowing one hit and zero walks while striking out zero in a scoreless ninth inning.

      Advice: Finnegan's strong season continued Sunday, and his 16 saves are tied for fourth in the major leagues.     • Nico Hoerner has two hits in loss to Reds
      Nico Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a run scored in a loss to the Reds on Sunday.

      Advice: Hoerner has been slowly increasing his batting average in recent weeks and is up to .262/.351/.366 on the season; however, he didn’t attempt a stolen base today and has just six on the season. After stealing 43 bases last year, it’s discouraging to see Hoerner not running as often. It could partially be a hamstring issue he’s been dealing with or a new philosophy under manager Craig Counsell, but since Hoerner doesn’t have much power, his fantasy value will take a big hit if he’s only a 25-stolen-base hitter who will hit .270-.280. If you need the steals, you should still keep Hoerner in your lineup, but if you’re OK on speed and somebody makes a compelling offer, he could be a player you’re OK parting with.       Chris Bassitt struck out seven across five innings in a 5-4 win over the Pirates on Sunday. He allowed three earned runs and walked one while securing the win.

      Advice: Bassitt was able to navigate nine Pirates base runners to keep just enough runs off the board and earn his sixth win of the season. This was his third straight win in as many starts as he’s put a poor April in the rear view mirror and pitched much more like the ultra-steady Bassitt we’ve come to expect.     • Hand showing improvement
      Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that the swelling in Suarez's hand has improved significantly, and the left-hander could pick up a ball in the next day or two, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The 28-year-old was struck in the left hand by a comebacker during Saturday's start against the Cardinals, but he's had X-rays come back negative and already appears to be progressing in his recovery. It remains to be seen if Suarez will be cleared for his next turn through the rotation, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. The Phillies also have three scheduled days off surrounding next weekend's two-game series versus the Mets in London, so the club could give Suarez some extra time between outings without needing an additional starter.
