• Could serve as 27th man Tuesday
Manning is a candidate to serve as the 27th man and start one of the games of the Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Manning is on turn at Triple-A Toledo, so he's an obvious option to start that day for the big club instead. It would be his third start in the majors this season after he allowed four runs with a 10:6 K:BB in 12.1 innings covering his first two outings. If Manning does indeed start Tuesday, Jack Flaherty will likely have his start pushed back to Wednesday. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Tobias Myers will start in Milwaukee rotation
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters Monday that Tobias Myers will stay in the rotation.

Advice: “I think he has to,” Murphy said. “He’s showed us the ability to go after hitters.” Myers gave up four runs in five innings Sunday against the Yankees, but he was able to fan five without issuing a walk. The 25-year-old will make his next start against the Cubs over the weekend. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Staying in rotation
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Myers will remain in the rotation, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Myers has held his own in two starts for the Brewers, allowing three runs with a 9:1 K:BB over 10 innings. With DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) still out and Wade Miley (elbow) done for the season the club didn't have much of a choice in giving Myers at least one more turn. He's tentatively lined up to start in Chicago against the Cubs this weekend. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago
  • Cardinals-Tigers postponed
Matz and the Cardinals won't play Monday against the Tigers after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit.

Advice: The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader Tuesday. As a result of the postponement, Matz will likely just be pushed back one day in the pitching schedule to start one half of Tuesday's twin bill. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Touches 98 mph in live BP
Nationals manager Dave Martinez said that Cavalli (elbow) sat at 96 mph and touched 98 mph in a live batting practice session Monday, Spencer Nusbaum of the Washington Post reports.

Advice: Martinez came away impressed with how the right-hander looked, saying Cavalli threw the ball "really well." Cavalli would appear to be nearing a rehab assignment, although he might be asked to throw another live BP or two first. He's coming back from Tommy John surgery and could be an option for the Nationals' rotation by June. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

  • Cade Cavalli throws ‘really well’ in live session
Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters that Cade Cavalli (elbow) threw “really well” in his live session Monday.

Advice: Cavalli got his fastball up to 98 mph while averaging 96 with the offering. The right-hander is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the middle of May, and it’s encouraging to see that the fastball has zip on it. If all things go to plan, Cavalli should be able to start games for the Nationals by the end of May. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago

  • Slated for season debut this week
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Monday that Means (forearm) would rejoin the rotation this week for his season debut, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Hyde did not divulge which day Means will pitch, but he would be on regular rest Friday in Cincinnati. Means saved by far his best rehab start for last, as he struck out eight while allowing just one hit and one walk over seven scoreless innings for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. The left-hander got his pitch count up to 95 in the outing, so he should be ready for a typical workload in his first start with the Orioles. Means is coming back from a left forearm strain.
