• Josh Rojas taking seat against lefty Monday
Josh Rojas is not in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against Atlanta.

Advice: Rojas is currently on a platoon with Luis Urias, and it’ll be Urias manning the hot corner with left-hander Max Fried on the bump for Atlanta. Seattle will also have Sam Haggerty in left field against the southpaw after recalling the versatile infielder/outfielder from Triple-A Tacoma. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Brandon Lowe (oblique) undergoes MRI
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters that Brandon Lowe got “pretty good” results on the MRI on his oblique.

Advice: “We’ll just kind of take it day to day, Cash told reporters. Ok. Lowe has been out of the lineup since early in April with the strain, and it doesn’t sound like there’s a concrete timetable for when the infielder will return. Curtis Mead will continue to see the majority of time at second base while Lowe is on the shelf. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Jackson Merrill not in lineup Monday vs. Reds
Jackson Merrill is not in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: Merrill returned to the lineup from his groin injury on Saturday and also played Sunday, so this appears to be a day of maintenance for the 21-year-old. Jose Azocar will play center and hit eighth Monday. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • Not close to rehab assignment
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Suzuki (oblique) upped the intensity of his baseball activities Saturday and Sunday but is not close to beginning a rehab assignment, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Suzuki is getting a recovery day Monday before resuming baseball activities Tuesday and Wednesday. While he would appear to be progressing slowly but surely, he still has some hoops to jump through before he's ready to go out on a rehab assignment. Suzuki has missed the last two weeks of action with a right oblique strain. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

  • Austin Hays (calf) not doing much activity
Austin Hays (calf) is getting better according to Orioles manager Brandon Hyde, but hasn’t been able to participate in much physical activity.

Advice: Hays was somewhat surprisingly placed on the injured list with a left calf strain last Monday, and it doesn’t appear he’s near a return at this point. The 28-year-old has likely missed enough time that he’ll need a rehab assignment, and it sounds like there’s at least a few more days before Hays takes part in that. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Christian Yelich (back) throws from 120 feet away
Christian Yelich (back) threw from up to 120 feet away before Monday’s game.

Advice: Yelich has also resumed throwing, and the ability to throw from a relative distance is another positive encouragement. This was initially viewed as a potential short-term stint on the injured list, but right now it seems likely that Yelich won’t be back until the early-to-mid portion of May. • Suzuki (oblique) not ready for rehab assignment
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Seiya Suzuki is not yet ready for a rehab assignment.

Advice: Counsell mentioned that Suzuki went through harder workouts Saturday and Sunday and then will resume baseball activities Tuesday and Wednesday. The manager noted that Suzuki still has “steps to clear” before he can begin that rehab assignment. It’s likely the outfielder won’t be back until near the end of May at this point. • J.P. Crawford (oblique) taking grounders Monday
J.P. Crawford (oblique) is taking grounders before Monday’s game against Atlanta.

Advice: Crawford is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with his oblique injury, but it’s a positive development that the 29-year-old is taking part in infield practice before Monday’s game. It’s very likely that Crawford will need a rehab assignment before returning to the Seattle lineup late in May. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

  • Nearing rehab assignment
Carpenter (oblique) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Thursday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Advice: Carpenter has progressed well since being given an injection for his right oblique strain a week ago, having taken a couple rounds of batting practice without issue. It sounds like he might be ready for activation within the next week or so. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
