• Getting breather Friday
Toro is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Toro will be out of the Athletics' lineup for the first time since April 28, getting a well-deserved day off Friday. J.D. Davis will bat seventh and play third base while Max Schuemann leads off. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:00 pm

  • Abraham Toro remains leadoff man despite slump
The slumping Abraham Toro is again in the leadoff spot for the A’s for Thursday’s game against the Twins.

Advice: That’s hardly a surprise, considering that Toro has led off every game for the A’s since May 5. Still, he’s not exactly succeeding in the spot, having posted a .281 OBP in 46 games there. He’s hit .202/.228/.270 in his last 20 games. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:49 pm

  • Belts first-pitch homer
Toro went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Toro got the game started right for the Athletics, taking Randy Vasquez's first pitch of the contest out to center field. The homer was Toro's sixth of the year, but his first since May 21. He's gone 6-for-26 (.231) over his last six games, though he's maintained steady playing time at third base and atop the order. He's slashing .268/.311/.402 with 24 RBI, 31 runs scored, 14 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases through 66 contests. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:10 pm

  • Mark Vientos drives in two in loss
Mark Vientos went 1-for-4 with two RBIs in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Advice: Vientos laced an RBI double 98.2 mph down the left-field line for two RBI in the second inning. The 24-year-old continues to operate as the Mets primary starter at third base, for now, and is hitting .320/.381/.587 with 15 RBI on the season. He’s worthy of an add in most leagues while he has the starting job. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:52 pm

  • Plates pair in Sunday's loss
Toro went 1-for-5 with a two-run single in an extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday.

Advice: Toro erased a 2-1 deficit in the seventh inning with a bloop single that plated Tyler Soderstrom and Aledmys Diaz. Toro has hit safely in four straight games, although he's also uncharacteristically struck out seven times over that span. Nevertheless, Toro appears to have a firm hold of a leadoff spot and is carrying a solid .269 average and .708 OPS across 261 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Jun 10, 10:06 am

  • Not starting Sunday
Vientos is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: Vientos will get a rest day for the first time since May 28. The 23-year-old has gone 11-for-38 with two home runs and six RBI over his last 10 games. The lefty-hitting Brett Baty will start at third base and bat eighth against Philadelphia right-hander Taijuan Walker. Rotowire.com Jun 9, 6:23 am
