• Goes 5.1 frames in victory
Poteet (3-0) earned the win over Kansas City on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two batters over 5.1 innings.

Advice: Poteet was staked to a 6-0 lead after one inning and cruised through five scoreless frames before the Royals scored their first two runs in the sixth. The right-hander had plenty of cushion at that point and ended up with his third victory across four starts. Poteet has completed six innings just once in those outings, but he's put up a great 2.14 ERA and 1.05 WHIP despite a not-so-great 13:7 K:BB over 21 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:30 pm

  • Cody Poteet earns win against Royals on Wednesday
Cody Poteet allowed two runs with two strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Poteet kept the Royals scoreless over five frames before running into some trouble in the sixth. He gave up a leadoff single before Bobby Witt Jr. drove in a run on a double with one out. Poteet then issued a walk and that would be it. Ian Hamilton relieved Poteet on the mound and allowed one inherited runner to score. The 29-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 1.71 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 13/7 K/BB ratio across 21 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Orioles in New York on Tuesday. • Grabs four-out save
Garcia struck out three without allowing a baserunner over 1.1 innings to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Garcia inherited two runners from Trevor Richards in the eighth inning, and the Brewers pulled off a double steal to get them both in scoring position. It didn't matter, as Garcia struck out Blake Perkins before pitching a clean ninth to get the four-out save. This was Garcia's fifth save of the year, three of which have come in June while Jordan Romano (elbow) has been on the injured list. Garcia has added nine holds and one blown save while pitching to a 1.98 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 37:7 K:BB through 27.1 innings this season. As long as Romano is out, Garcia appears to be the top option for saves in the Toronto bullpen. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 8:15 pm

  • Yimi Garcia earns fifth save of season vs. Brewers
Yimi Garcia pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings, earning the save in Tuesday’s win over the Brewers.

Advice: Garcia was solid in this one, striking out three of his four batters faced while earning a four-out save to secure the shutout over the Brewers. It was a far better outing than he saw in his last save opportunity when he gave up two runs last week against the Orioles despite still earning the save. Garcia is boasting a solid 1.98 ERA and 0.66 WHIP on the year, and could be close to earning a role as the Jays’ permanent closer while Jordan Romano (elbow) remains away. • Collects third win
Garcia (3-0) struck out one in a perfect inning Sunday to pick up the win over Oakland.

Advice: The Blue Jays won 6-3 in the 10th inning, handing Garcia the victory after he preserved the tie in the ninth. The right-hander has either a win or a save in four straight appearances, and he's been Toronto's next high-leverage option this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 34:7 K:BB through 26 innings with nine holds and four saves in addition to his three wins. • Inefficient in no-decision
Poteet came away with a no-decision in Friday's 2-1 extra-innings loss to the Dodgers, allowing two hits and three walks over 4.2 scoreless innings. He struck out one.

Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander kept a dangerous offense off the board, but he needed 84 pitches (50 strikes) to record only 14 outs, and the Yankees' bullpen eventually faltered in the 11th inning. Poteet has a 1.72 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through 15.2 innings over his three big-league starts this season, but with Gerrit Cole (elbow) set to make his second rehab start Sunday, Poteet's time in the New York rotation is running short. He should make at least one more start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Kansas City. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:12 am

  • Cody Poteet lifted from scoreless game in fifth
Cody Poteet blanked the Dodgers for 4 2/3 innings before being lifted Friday.

Advice: It was a scoreless game when Poteet exited, so the quick hook didn’t cost him a win. Poteet is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA in three starts this season. His stint in the rotation might only last until Gerrit Cole returns, but he’s been a pretty great stopgap so far. Rotoworld Friday, 7:55 pm

  • Getting second start
Poteet is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Dodgers at Yankee Stadium.

Advice: The right-hander will be making his third start of the season for the Yankees and his second straight turn through the rotation. He struck out six over five innings while allowing three runs (two earned) in a winning effort against the Giants last Saturday following his call-up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Unless the Yankees get hit by another injury in their rotation, Poteet's stay in the majors will likely come to an end once Gerrit Cole (elbow) makes his expected return from the 60-day injured list later this month. • Hangs on for fourth save
Garcia earned the save Thursday against the Orioles despite allowing two runs on a hit in the ninth inning. He struck out two.

Advice: Garcia had Baltimore down to their final out before hitting Austin Hays with a pitch and subsequently surrendering a two-run homer to Ryan O'Hearn, cutting Toronto's lead to 6-5. However, Garcia would then strike out Kyle Stowers for the final out, securing his fourth save this season. The 33-year-old Garcia has converted both of Toronto's save chances since Jordan Romano (elbow) was placed on the IL on June 1. While he's allowed three runs in his last three innings, Garcia still sports a solid 2.16 ERA with a 0.72 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB across 25 innings this year. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:10 pm
