    • Happy with mechanical tweaks
Gausman tinkered with his mechanics ahead of Friday's start against the Mariners, in which he tied his season high with 10 strikeouts, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. "I definitely had a bit of a different delivery today, and that was by design," Gausman said after the outing. "It's something we're trying to get back to what I was doing in 2021. I think it will allow me to be around the zone a little bit more."

Advice: The veteran right-hander saw his fastball average 1.4 mph more than it had this season coming into the start, while the movement on his splitter was more effective as a result of the tweaks. "I was getting way too much horizontal movement on my splitter and not enough vertical movement," Gausman said. "I haven't looked at the metrics, but I could tell that it was carrying the zone. To me, that shows the vertical was there on my splitter. Guys are going to swing more at it when it looks like it's going to be in the zone longer." Gausman, who missed much of spring training due to shoulder fatigue, has had an inconsistent beginning to the season and will carry a 4.64 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 24.0 percent strikeout rate into his next start -- numbers all well below the standard he established during his career resurgence in San Francisco in 2020-21. • Winds up with win
Green (2-1) took the win Sunday against Seattle, allowing two hits and a walk with two strikeouts across a scoreless inning.

Advice: Green entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score 4-4, and although he let runners reach second and third with one out, Green was able to send the game to extra innings, where the Blue Jays would deliver Green his second victory. The 33-year-old has allowed just one run in his last 9.2 innings and has been the Blue Jays' impromptu closer in the wake of injuries to Jordan Romano (elbow) and Yimi Garcia (elbow). Prior to being shelved, Garcia was firmly ahead of Green for save chances, but with Green in the midst of an exceptional season highlighted by what would be a career-best 1.57 ERA, the closing role may no longer be as cut and dry. • Folds early against Cards
Gore came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 14-6 win over St. Louis, coughing up five runs on six hits and five walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The southpaw has shown improved control and command overall in 2024, but Gore couldn't find the plate Saturday and needed 90 pitches (52 strikes) to record 10 outs, failing to take advantage of a huge offensive outburst by the Nats. He's failed to complete six innings in four straight outings and in six of seven since the beginning of June, stumbling to a 5.35 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB through 35.1 innings over that stretch. Gore will try to get back on track in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Mets. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:25 am
    • Settles for quality start Saturday
Bradley came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The right-hander was still the pitcher of record when the Rays took the lead in the top of the seventh, putting Bradley in line for his fourth win of the year, but Kevin Kelly blew the save in the bottom of the frame. The quality start was Bradley's third in his last five trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's posted a 1.29 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB through 35 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander will look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Guardians. Rotowire.com Sunday, 5:51 am

    • Picks up fourth save
Green notched a save against the Mariners on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two batters over 1.1 innings.

Advice: Green was deployed with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and struck out Cal Raleigh to preserve a two-run Toronto lead. He returned in the ninth frame and worked around a one-out solo shot by Luke Raley to nail down the save. Green has two saves over the past four days and has allowed just three earned runs -- all on solo homers -- over 21 innings since the start of April. However, he could see fewer closing opportunities with Yimi Garcia nearing his return from an elbow injury. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:26 pm

    • Strikes out eight in win
Ryan (6-5) earned the win against the Astros on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Ryan surrendered a run in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fourth while receiving plenty of early run support from his teammates. He generated 15 swinging strikes on 110 pitches and has completed at least five frames in each of his 18 starts this season. On the year, the 28-year-old owns an impressive 3.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 118:16 K:BB through 109.1 innings and lines up to face the Giants next week. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:58 pm

    • Crushed early in loss
Brown (6-6) took the loss against the Twins on Saturday, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Brown entered Saturday on an impressive run of eight consecutive quality starts, but the Twins jumped him early for seven runs over the first three innings. He battled to finish with three scoreless frames but ultimately endured his worst outing since allowing six earned runs against Cleveland on April 30. The 25-year-old owns a 4.48 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 100:36 K:BB over 92.1 innings this season and will try to rebound against the Rangers next week. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:49 pm

    • Gore allows five runs in no-decision Saturday
Mackenzie Gore allowed five runs in 3 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Nationals’ 14-6 victory over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Gore gave up six hits, walked five and struck out five. The Nationals led 9-0 after two innings and Gore still couldn’t complete the necessary five innings to get the win. He’s allowed five runs in two of his last three starts and has a 3.83 ERA on the year. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Mets on the road next week.

    • Chad Green allows homer, still gets four-out save
Chad Green allowed a run over 1 1/3 innings to get a save Saturday against the Mariners.

Advice: Green came on to get the final out of the eighth while striking out notorious Blue Jay killer Cal Raleigh. He did allow a solo homer to Luke Raley, but it came with a 5-3 lead. Green has now saved four games, and he should remain the closer in full until Yimi Garcia (elbow) returns. He may keep that role even after Garcia is back if he keeps pitching well.
