Advice: Burleson fizzled late in June, going 1-for-14 over his last four contests, but he started July on a high note. The outfielder had great June overall, hitting .271 with seven homers, 20 RBI, 18 runs scored, three stolen bases and an .824 OPS over 28 contests. That's earned him a starting role in right field and as the Cardinals' No. 2 hitter. Crushes second homerNoel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Royals.
Advice: In his fourth big-league game, Noel launched his second big-league homer, and it wasn't a cheap one -- the 22-year-old ripped a Cole Ragans slider down the left-field line in the fourth inning, and the ball left his bat at 115.4 mph. Per Mandy Bell of MLB.com, it was the hardest-hit home run by a Cleveland player since Statcast was introduced in 2015. Noel has started two of four games since his promotion, going 3-for-9 with a double in addition to the long balls, but the Guardians will find room for him in the lineup more often if he keeps displaying this kind of power. Advice: Not good. Harper suffered the apparent injury during the ninth inning of Thursday’s loss while attempting to beat out an infield grounder on the final play of the contest. The 31-year-old slugger, who crushed an RBI double off the base of the center-field wall in the opening frame against Marlins southpaw Trevor Rogers for his 1,000th career hit, will undergo additional testing to determine the severity of the injury. Homers in first big-league at-batNoel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.
Advice: Noel enjoyed a storybook first big-league plate appearance, blasting a solo shot 413 feet to center field. The 22-year-old was promoted from Triple-A earlier in the day after blazing to a .295/.359/.578 slash line with 18 homers and 59 RBI over 65 games with Columbus. Noel's power is unquestioned -- he went deep 27 times at Triple-A last season -- though he has had some strikeout issues during his time in the minors. There isn't an obvious path to everyday at-bats with the big club, but if Joel is productive, he could work his way into fairly regular playing time by moving between first base, the corner-outfield spots and designated hitter.
