• Recalled to start Saturday
The Padres recalled Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso to start Saturday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Vasquez was optioned to Triple-A in May after posting a 5.82 ERA and 1.75 WHIP across 21.2 innings through his first five starts. His numbers get even worse in the minors (7.45 ERA, 1.88 WHIP), but he will be called upon for another start with the Padres nonetheless. Rotowire.com Today, 10:06 am
  • Blown save Friday
McArthur took a blown save in Friday's 11-8 loss to the Padres, allowing four runs on four hits without retiring a batter.

Advice: McArthur inherited a brutal situation from John Schreiber, who left the bases loaded with no outs in the eighth inning. McArthur let all three inherited runners score after allowing four straight singles, and Will Klein was unable to slow the Padres' rally. While he's still a high-leverage option, McArthur was awful in May with a 9.00 ERA and 1.90 WHIP over 10 innings while going 4-for-7 in save conversations. He's at a 5.32 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23:3 K:BB through 23.2 innings, and he's giving up too many hits to find long-term success, though the Royals lack relievers who have pitched well over the last month. • Yankees option Cody Morris to Triple-A
Yankees optioned RHP Cody Morris to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Morris was up with New York for a handful of games as extra relief depth in the wake of Clarke Schmidt (lat) hitting the injured list. He’s been shipped back to the minors to make room for Cody Poteet to come up and take the ball on Saturday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Today, 10:05 am

  • Blue Jays recall Brendon Little on Saturday
Blue Jays recalled LHP Brendon Little from Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Little returns to the majors with Toronto closer Jordan Romano landing on the injured list ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Pirates. The 27-year-old southpaw has made three appearances this season in the big leagues. Rotoworld Today, 9:54 am
  • Called up Saturday
Dubin was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Dubin will return to Houston after being sent down May 17. The right-hander has appeared in nine games with the Astros this season, producing an inflated 6.59 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over 13.2 innings on the mound. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am
  • Returns to Triple-A
Speas was optioned to Triple-A Sugarland on Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Speas will head back to Sugar Land after appearing in Friday's 6-1 loss to Minnesota, allowing one run on two hits and a walk while striking out two batters over a pair of frames on the mound. Shawn Dubin was recalled from Triple-A to replace him in Houston's bullpen Saturday. Rotowire.com Today, 9:50 am

  • Astros recall Shawn Dubin on Saturday
Astros recalled RHP Shawn Dubin from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Dubin rejoins Houston’s bullpen prior to Saturday’s showdown against the Twins. The 28-year-old righty made nine relief appearances earlier this season for the Astros, posting a lackluster 6.59 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 13/7 K/BB ratio across 13 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Today, 9:26 am
  • Astros option Alex Speas back to Triple-A
Astros optioned RHP Alex Speas to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Speas heads back to the minors to enable the Astros to bring up a fresh arm ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Twins. The 26-year-old righty has made only one relief appearance this season in the big leagues since being claimed off waivers from the Athletics. Rotoworld Today, 9:24 am

  • James McArthur gives up four runs in blowing save
James McArthur gave up four runs without retiring a batter in the eighth to take a blown save Friday against the Padres.

Advice: Josh Schreiber, McArthur and Will Klein combined to give up nine runs in the eighth after the Royals entered the inning with a 3-2 lead. The good news for McArthur was that Schreiber, the Royals’ best alternative in the closer’s role, was pretty much equally ineffective tonight. Schrieber still has a big ERA lead on McArthur (3.00 to 5.32) and McArthur is up to four blown saves, so a change might be considered. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:00 pm
