• Dakota Hudson pitches well in loss to Marlins
Dakota Hudson pitched well in a losing effort against the Marlins on Wednesday night, allowing just two runs on five hits across 5 2/3 frames.

Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander walked two batters and struck out a pair on the evening. All of the scoring done against him came in the fifth inning, as Luis Arraez roped an RBI single to center and then scored on an RBI double off the bat of Bryan De La Cruz. Hudson got six whiffs on 78 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. Now 0-5 on the season, he’ll try again to get into the win column as he carries a 5.93 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and an 18/17 K/BB ratio (30 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Giants in Colorado. • Luis Gil out-duels Corbin Burnes to beat Orioles
Luis Gil out-dueled Corbin Burnes on Wednesday evening in Baltimore, scattering just two hits over 6 1/3 innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The right-hander racked up five strikeouts on the night while allowing only one base on balls. Both of the hits against him in the contest were singles and the O’s never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him. Gil generated nine whiffs on 95 pitches on the night — six of those on his fastball which averaged 95.8 mph — while posting a CSW of 26 percent. The 25-year-old hurler has made a major impact in the Yankees’ rotation through the first month-plus of the season, going 2-1 with a 3.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 40/20 K/BB ratio over 31 innings through his first six starts. He’ll try to keep the good times rolling when he squares off against the Astros at home on Tuesday. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Corbin Burnes logs quality start in loss to Yanks
Corbin Burnes logged a quality start in Wednesday’s loss to the Yankees, giving up just two runs on four hits over six strong innings of work.

Advice: The Orioles’ ace struck out six batters on the night while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him — and in the game — came on a two-out, two-run homer off the bat of Oswaldo Cabrera in the fifth inning that just barely stayed fair and creeped over the wall in right field. Burnes got 14 swings and misses on 95 pitches in the contest — seven of those on his slider — while registering an elite CSW of 34 percent. Now 3-1 on the season, he’ll carry an outstanding 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 41/9 K/BB ratio (41 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Nationals in Washington. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Earns first hold
Wentz worked around a hit and a walk to pitch a scoreless inning of relief and earn a hold in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals. He struck out one.

Advice: Wentz has pitched well all season in relief, and he now has his first hold to show for it. The lefty has a miniscule 0.79 ERA across 11.1 innings and he's struck out 14. The move to the bullpen has done wonders for Wentz, as he struggled mightily as a starter last year, posting a 6.80 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 105.2 innings. He figures to stick in a relief role moving forward. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • Dodgers option Landon Knack to Triple-A
Dodgers optioned RHP Landon Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: While it’s not official, this move would seemingly indicate that Walker Buehler will step into the Dodgers’ rotation the next time that Knack’s spot comes around. Knack, 26, did a terrific job in his limited action with the Dodgers, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and an 11/5 K/BB ratio over 16 innings in his three starts. Rotoworld Today, 5:30 pm
  • Optioned to OKC
The Dodgers optioned Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Advice: Knack threw five innings of one-run ball during his last start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, but he will head back to the minors nonetheless. His demotion will allow J.P. Feyereisen to come up from the minors while also opening a spot in the Dodgers' rotation -- potentially pointing toward Walker Buehler (elbow) making his season debut Monday against the Marlins. • Could make next start in majors
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol hinted Wednesday that Clevinger could be added to the 26-man active roster next week to make his next start with the big club, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. "We're expecting him to join us here pretty soon. He felt good [Tuesday]," Grifol said of Clevinger. "The news from our trainers was he's excited about how he felt, he's excited about how he threw the ball. We'll assess it, but I would expect him here shortly."

Advice: Because he didn't go through a proper spring training after remaining unsigned all offseason until inking a one-year deal with the White Sox until April 2, Clevinger has spent the first month of the regular season getting ramped up. He made the second of two starts at Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, covering four innings (71 pitches) and striking out four while allowing two earned runs on six hits and one walk. The White Sox have already announced their starting rotation through Sunday's game in St. Louis, but Clevinger should be a strong candidate to make his 2024 big-league debut early next week at Tampa Bay, if the organization's brain trust determines he doesn't need another tune-up start in the minors. • Cleared to start Saturday
Glasnow (hand) is scheduled to start Saturday's game against Atlanta at Dodger Stadium, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Glasnow experienced hand cramps in his most recent start April 27, but he'll be ready to go on six days' rest in a series featuring two of the National League's top teams. The right-hander has gotten off to an excellent start to his tenure with the Dodgers, going 5-1 with a 2.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 53:12 K:BB across 43 innings through seven outings. • Zack Wheeler collects win over Angels on Wednesday
Zack Wheeler struck out six and yielded one run over five innings on Wednesday in a win over the Angels.

Advice: Wheeler did what he does best out in Los Angeles, pounding the strike zone and limiting hard contact against an injury-depleted Angels lineup. The 33-year-old fantasy ace threw 67 of 106 pitches for strikes and allowed just five batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. A second-inning solo shot from veteran utility specialist Ehire Adrianza represented the lone tally against him over five frames. He’s allowed just one run over 18 1/3 innings in his last three starts since April 20. He’ll bring a sparkling 1.91 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 52/12 K/BB ratio across 42 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Wednesday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Today, 4:06 pm
