• To be investigated by MLB
Major League Baseball intends to open an investigation into a reported gambling situation involving Fletcher and bookmaker Mathew Bowyer, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Per Tisha Thompson of ESPN, Fletcher placed bets on multiple sports but did not bet on baseball. MLB allows players to bet on other sports, but doing so through illegal bookmakers such as Bowyer -- the same bookmaker used by Shohei Ohtani's former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara -- is prohibited and punishable at the discretion of the commissioner. Fletcher is currently not facing discipline but is expected to be investigated by Major League Baseball soon. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

  • Joey Ortiz picks up three hits, three-run homer
Joey Ortiz hit a three-run homer while going 3-for-4 in a loss to the Astros on Friday.

Advice: Ortiz also doubled, with the only damper on the evening being a caught stealing. The former Baltimore top prospect has been a big part of Milwaukee’s success, as this is the fifth homer for the 25-year-old and he’s slashing .296/.397/.561 for good measure. It was understandable for those who were skeptical of Ortiz as a fantasy option coming into the year, but this is no longer all that small of sample. It’s time to take him seriously. • Jeremy Peña hits three-run blast in win over MIL
Jeremy Peña hit a three-run homer to help the Astros to a 5-4 win over the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Peña came up huge for the Astros with a three-run homer off Freddy Peralta that gave the Astros their 5-4 lead in the fifth inning. The shortstop has enjoyed a strong first six-plus weeks of the season, as he’s gone deep five times while slashing .326/.364/.469. This is the version of Peña fantasy managers were hoping to see in 2023. So far, so good in 2024. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Josh Hader holds former team scoreless for save
Josh Hader didn’t give up a run while picking up a save Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Hader gets the save against one of his former employers in Milwaukee. The southpaw has now saved six games in 2024, and he’s nearly halved his 8.38 ERA on April 19 to 4.50. The issues Hader was dealing with in the earliest portion of the campaign appear to have mostly subsided. Rotoworld 16 minutes ago

  • Freddy Peralta allows eight hits, five runs in loss
Freddy Peralta was charted for five runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Astros on Friday.

Advice: Both Hunter Brown and Peralta gave up all of their damage via the long-ball in this contest, and in Peralta’s case, he gave up a two-run homer to Jake Meyers and a three-run blast to Jeremy Peña. Outside of those blasts the right-hander was mostly effective, but damage done. It’s the second time in five starts he’s allowed at least five runs, and a 1.90 ERA on April 19 has ballooned to 4.17. He’ll look to get back on track against the Marlins next week. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Hunter Brown allows four in win over Brewers
Hunter Brown gave up four runs in five innings but still picked up the win Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Brown allows four hits — two of them homers, including a three-run homer by Joey Ortiz — and he walked three while striking out five. It’s another mediocre start from the right-hander, and mediocre seems to be pretty kind at this stage. It’s never a good sign when five innings of four-run baseball sees your ERA drop to 7.71. That being said, it was good enough for the win Friday, and it’s the first of the season for Brown. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Tyler Alexander wins, pitches into eighth inning
Tyler Alexander pitched a career-high 7 ⅓ innings in a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays on Friday. He allowed three runs, three hits, and struck out four.

Advice: It’s been a trying season for Alexander as he’s fully transitioned into a starter’s role with the Tampa Bay rotation strapped for depth and this was his best start. It’s still difficult to trust him moving forward. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

  • Peter Fairbanks earns fourth save on Friday
Peter Fairbanks worked a clean ninth inning striking out one Blue Jays on Friday for his fourth save.

Advice: Fairbanks finally saved his first game since returning from the IL. He’s allowed no earned runs with six strikeouts across four innings and looks back to his normal, dominant self. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago
  • Davis Schneider homers in loss
Davis Schneider hit a two-run home run in a loss to the Rays on Friday.

Advice: As has been the story for most of this season, Schneider was the lone bright spot for the Jays’ offense on Friday. The home run was his fifth of the season and his 13 BB% and 145 wRC+ suggest he could move up in order permanently if the Blue Jays ever want to relieve George Springer of his lead-off duties.
