    • Dodgers send Landon Knack to Triple-A
Dodgers optioned RHP Landon Knack to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The move makes room for the newly acquired Yohan Ramírez on the roster. Knack had a fine 2.61 ERA in four starts for the Dodgers, but he wasn’t going to be needed this week with the team having Thursday off. He might rejoin the rotation at the beginning of next month, but the Dodgers could also have Bobby Miller close to returning by then. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
    • Dodgers designate Eduardo Salazar for assignment
Dodgers designated RHP Eduardo Salazar for assignment.

Advice: Salazar had two quick stints with the Dodgers this season and allowed one unearned run in two innings. By clearing him from the 40-man, the Dodgers are picking Yohan Ramírez over giving Salazar an extended look. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
    • Cubs activated Dansby Swanson from I.L.
Cubs activated SS Dansby Swanson from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The Cubs don’t play today, so it’s kind of surprising that the move is coming now. However, MLB.com’s transactions page says it’s official. Still unofficial is the Luis Vazquez callup, which is expected to happen before the game Tuesday. Swanson should start at shortstop Tuesday after missing two weeks with a sprained knee. • Begins throwing off mound
May (elbow) has started throwing off a mound at the Dodgers' team facility in Arizona, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: May has been slowly working his way back from the surgery underwent on his right flexor tendon and UCL in July. The right-hander will progressively increase his workload on the mound before he'll likely throw live batting practice and ultimately go on an extended minor-league rehab assignment. The organization will likely be especially cautious in their approach to May's recovery and his return to the majors is currently projected to come around the All-Star break. • Cubs option Mastrobuoni to Triple-A
Cubs optioned INF/OF Miles Mastrobuoni to Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Mastrobuoni had been filling in at shortstop for Dansby Swanson of late, but he was just 5-for-40 in his 19 games. He’s a career .212/.284/.259 hitter in 211 plate appearances. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
    • Cubs demote Pete Crow-Armstrong to Triple-A
Cubs optioned OF Pete Crow-Armstrong to Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: It’s nothing Crow-Armstrong did wrong, but the Cubs don’t want a 22-year-old top prospect sitting on the bench as often as Crow-Armstrong was going to now that Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki are healthy. PCA hit .236/.295/.364 in 63 plate appearances and graded out very well defensively in center during his four weeks in the majors. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago
    • Launching throwing program
Kelly (shoulder) is set to begin his throwing program Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Kelly has been on the 15-day injured list since May 6 with a right shoulder strain and he will now take the first step towards making his return. The right-hander will likely need to build up his workload and even potentially make a trip to the minors for a rehab assignment. Depending on how his shoulder responds to the beginning of his throwing program, Kelly will receive a timetable for his return, which currently appears to be at least a week away at the earliest. • Scheduled for sim game
Miller (shoulder) is expected to throw a simulated game Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: Miller continues to make progress in his recovery after being sent to the 15-day injured list April 13 due to right shoulder inflammation. He successfully completed a bullpen session Saturday, and as expected, he's now been given the green light to toss a sim game. Miller will likely be sent out on a rehab assignment later in the week, assuming all goes well Tuesday. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago
    • Joe Ross departs game with back strain
Joe Ross left Monday’s game because of a strained lower back, according to the Brewers.

Advice: Definitely better than some of the alternatives. The Brewers are off Thursday, so if Ross feels better quickly, the team might not need to replace him in the rotation. If he does go on the IL, either Bradley Blalock or Tobias Myers could replace him in the rotation. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
