• Faces hitters in live session
Senga (shoulder) completed a 32-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Facing hitters in extended live BP session marks a major milestone in Senga's recovery from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, which caused him to miss most of spring training and resulted in him opening the season on the 15-day injured list before he was shifted to the 60-day IL on April 10. He won't be eligible to make his season debut until May 27, but Senga appears on target to return on or around that date based on where he currently stands in his recovery. The Mets will see how he bounces back from Saturday's throwing session over the next couple of days before deciding whether he's ready to report to a minor-league affiliate to begin a rehab assignment, or if he'll need to throw another live BP before doing so. • Throws in XST
Sewald (oblique) threw an inning in an extended spring training game Saturday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Sewald came out of the session feeling good, and if he continues to respond to activity the same way, the Diamondbacks plan to activate him for the series opener against the Reds on Tuesday. He's expected to resume his role as the team's closer after saving 13 of 15 opportunities following his acquisition from Seattle at the trade deadline in 2023. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • Senga (shoulder) throws 32 pitches in live BP
Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw 32 pitches in his live bullpen session Saturday.

Advice: Senga has now faced live hitters twice this week. The Mets will now determine the next steps for the right-hander in the coming days, as they want to see how he responds before deciding when he’ll begin a rehab assignment. There’s a very good chance he does begin that assignment at this point, however, and he’s on track to make his return around May 27 — the earliest Senga can be activated off the 60-day IL. • Called up for Sunday's start
Lynch was recalled from Triple-A Omaha and is starting Sunday against the Rangers.

Advice: The left-hander is taking the rotation spot of Alec Marsh (elbow), who is making a rehab start Sunday and could soon rejoin the Royals. Lynch missed out on Kansas City's season-opening rotation after he posted a 2.77 ERA during spring training, and he hasn't pitched particularly well at Omaha with a 5.86 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB across 27.2 innings. • Colin Selby sent to Triple-A by KC on Sunday
Royals optioned RHP Colin Selby to Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: Selby was up for a little under a week, and the Royals will send him back to Omaha to make room for Daniel Lynch on the active roster. Selby will likely be back in a low-leverage role at some point in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 7:50 am

  • Royals recall Daniel Lynch from Triple-A Omaha
Royals recalled LHP Daniel Lynch from Triple-A Omaha.

Advice: Lynch is going to start Sunday’s game against the Rangers. In six starts with Omaha, the left-hander registered a 6.86 ERA and 22/9 K/BB over 27/2 innings. Lynch is a former top prospect, but his lack of consistent success makes him an unworthy fantasy target at this time. Rotoworld Today, 7:48 am
  • Mashes eighth homer
Ohtani went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over Atlanta.

Advice: Ohtani kicked off the bottom of the third with a leadoff home run, jumping on a hanging four-seamer from Bryce Elder to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead. The superstar slugger also drove in a second run on a single in the fourth before finishing the contest with three hits for the fourth time this season. Ohtani has now driven in at least one run in eight of his last 11 games and extended his hitting streak to four games with Saturday's performance. Rotowire.com Today, 7:45 am

  • Reaches five innings in rehab start
Woo (elbow) struck out six and allowed three hits and no walks over five shutout innings in his third rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: Woo was about as sharp as the Mariners could have hoped in what was likely the final start of his rehab assignment, as he built up to 66 pitches (44 strikes) while making quick work of the Triple-A Sacramento lineup. Provided Woo experiences no complications with his right elbow during a bullpen session within the next couple of days, he should be cleared to return from the 15-day injured list to make his 2024 Mariners debut later this week. Emerson Hancock has been filling in as the Mariners' No. 5 starter while Woo has been out, but Seattle could have room in the rotation for both hurlers if George Kirby (knee) is forced to the 15-day IL. Woo is likely to be activated to start either Thursday in Minnesota or Friday at home versus the Athletics. Rotowire.com Today, 7:16 am

  • Scoreless inning to earn win
Bednar (2-2) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win Saturday against the Rockies.

Advice: Bednar entered in the ninth inning of a scoreless game and held the Rockies in check. It was a needed outing, as he entered Saturday having given up runs in each of his last three appearances. Bednar has an ugly 10.50 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across 12 frames for the season, though there is no indication that he's in danger of losing the closer role. Rotowire.com Today, 7:13 am
