• Departs Sunday's start
Pepiot was removed from Sunday's game against the Mets after being struck in the left leg by a comebacker, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sunreports.

Advice: The right-hander was hit by a line drive that came off the bat at 107 mph, which ended his day during the third inning. Pepiot finished with three runs allowed on three hits and a walk over two innings. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, leaving the 26-year-old's availability for his next turn through the rotation up in the air. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago

  • Looks set to return Wednesday
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Pivetta (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game in Atlanta, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Cora stopped short of confirming Pivetta for Wednesday, as the right-hander presumably needs to check out fine following a bullpen session Sunday or Monday before the Red Sox formally clear him to rejoin the rotation. Pivetta, who has been on the shelf since April 9 with a right elbow flexor strain, made a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Thursday and gave up four earned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five across three innings. Despite the less-than-stellar results, the Red Sox were apparently encouraged by how Pivetta felt physically in the outing and are eager to bring him back into the big-league rotation this week. • May drop appeal after Sunday start
Peralta implied that he could drop his appeal of a five-game suspension following his start Sunday against the Cubs, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Peralta was handed the ban Wednesday after he was deemed to have intentionally thrown at Rays outfielder Jose Siri in Tuesday's 8-2 win. The right-hander was ejected from the game immediately after hitting Siri, who then exchanged punches with Brewers reliever Abner Uribe following his next plate appearance in the eighth inning, inciting a benches-clearing brawl. Peralta seemingly appealed the suspension to give the Brewers more time to prepare for his absence, as it doesn't sound as though he's expecting a reduction in his five-game ban following the appeal process. With that in mind, fantasy managers should prepare for Peralta to have his next turn through the rotation skipped, with Milwaukee preparing to turn to a spot starter next Friday in St. Louis. Robert Gasser is scheduled to pitch Sunday for Triple-A Nashville and could be called up to fill the void for Peralta on Friday, though manager Pat Murphy also floated the possibility of that game being treated as a bullpen day, per Hogg. • Ryan Pepiot leaves Sunday after being hit in leg
Ryan Pepiot left Sunday’s start against the Mets with an apparent injury.

Advice: Pepiot took a liner off his leg on a ball that was hit 107 mph. The right-hander threw after and tried to stay in, but Rays manager Kevin Cash wouldn’t allow it. Pepiot will likely undergo imaging, and his status for his start next week should be updated shortly after. Manuel Rodriguez has taken over on the mound. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) throws from 75 feet
Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) was able to throw off flat ground Sunday.

Advice: Orioles pitching coach Drew French told reporters that Rodriguez threw from 60-75 foot away and that it was a “good day” for him. The right-hander has been on the shelf since May 1 with shoulder inflammation, and while there’s no timetable for his return, it’s certainly a positive development that he’s able to throw a few days later. • Activated for Sunday's start
The Diamondbacks activated Nelson (elbow) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start against the Padres on Sunday.

Advice: The right-hander has been sidelined the past couple weeks by an elbow bruise but is rejoining Arizona's rotation Sunday. Nelson could face some minor workload limitations given he hasn't pitched in a game since April 18. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago

  • Nelson (elbow) off injured list to start Sunday
Diamondbacks activated RHP Ryne Nelson off the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Nelson is back to make a start Sunday against the Padres. The right-hander ended up missing the minimum amount of time while dealing with a bruise on his right elbow. Nelson was shaky in his starts prior to the injury, and fantasy managers should probably look elsewhere for a streaming option. Rotoworld Today, 10:35 am

  • Throws bullpen session
Whitlock (oblique) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Whitlock emerged from the session without issue and will embark on a throwing program. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said, "it's just the beginning," when discussing the right-hander's status. Whitlock was placed on the injured list April 17 and seemingly would need at least one rehab start. Rotowire.com Today, 10:30 am

  • Waiting on thumb
Scherzer (back) is still in a holding pattern while waiting for the soreness in his right thumb to subside, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Texas manager Bruce Bochy said the thumb improves every day, but Scherzer is not yet at the point where he can play catch. The right-hander threw 52 pitches in his first rehab start but experienced thumb soreness afterwards. His next rehab start, scheduled for April 30, was pushed back. Rotowire.com Today, 10:16 am
