• Back to minors
Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Advice: The Yankees' bullpen was forced to cover 6.2 innings in Thursday's loss to the Orioles and will need at least one fresh arm for their weekend series against Atlanta. Marinaccio will head back to the minors as a result, though he also surrendered four earned runs across 6.1 innings in his latest stint in the majors. Rotowire.com Today, 6:26 pm

  • Collects 22nd save
Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning Thursday, striking out one to earn the save against Seattle.

Advice: Clase had allowed earned runs in consecutive appearances on June 9 and 11 but has regained his form since, tossing his third consecutive clean outing to close out the game for the Guardians. Clase ranks first in the American League with 22 saves, ranking behind only Ryan Helsley of the Cardinals who has 24 to lead the major leagues. Through 35.1 innings this season, Clase has allowed only three earned runs for an ERA of 0.76 with a 0.62 WHIP and 36 strikeouts. Rotowire.com Today, 6:16 pm
  • Allows five earned runs in loss
Castillo (6-8) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings against the Guardians. He struck out four.

Advice: Castillo entered the fifth with a 3-2 lead but with two outs, a walk preceded a home run by Andres Gimenez, then another walk paved the way for a Josh Naylor double that saddled Castillo with five runs allowed and left him on the hook for the loss. Following Castillo's start on June 2, he was on a 10-game stretch of allowing no more than two earned runs. However, his last three starts have been more of a mixed bag, having allowed 12 earned runs over his last 16 innings (6.75 ERA) including five runs allowed in two of his last three starts. He'll look to put things back together during his next start, scheduled to take place next week when the Mariners travel to Tampa to take on the Rays. Rotowire.com Today, 6:08 pm

  • Struggles in no-decision
Irvin did not factor into the decision in a win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out two.

Advice: Irvin had a hard time with the Yankees' lineup for much of the afternoon, allowing runs in three of the five innings in which he appeared before being relieved by Bryan Baker. The lefty surrendered two home runs in the contest, something he hadn't done in any of his previous starts coming in, while also matching his season high with five runs allowed. Irvin had gone at least five innings in four consecutive starts prior to Thursday's game and will look to bounce back next week when the Orioles take on the Guardians in Baltimore. • Marlins release veteran reliever Burch Smith
    Marlins released RHP Burch Smith.

Advice: Smith passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week and the two sides have agreed to part ways. The 34-year-old journeyman reliever posted a respectable 4.25 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 23/9 K/BB ratio across 29 2/3 innings (25 appearances) this season for Miami. He should be able to latch on somewhere else as extra organizational relief depth. Rotoworld Today, 5:49 pm
  • Zac Gallen (hamstring) to throw sim game next week
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw another simulated game early next week.

Advice: The hope here is that Gallen will be ready to be activated, without requiring a minor league rehab assignment, after next week’s simulated game. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May after suffering a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Today, 5:46 pm

  • Kodai Senga (shoulder) close to facing hitters
Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

Advice: Senga could progress to facing hitters in a live batting practice session at some point over the weekend, depending on how he comes out of his latest throwing session. The 31-year-old righty remains without a definitive return timeline at the moment, but he’s going to require several weeks of rehab starts once he gets to that point in his ramp-up process. • Jesus Tinoco elects free agency
Rangers RHP Jesus Tinoco has elected free agency.

Advice: Tinoco refused an outright minor league assignment to Triple-A Round Rock and will test the free agent waters instead. The 29-year-old righty posted a lackluster 8.10 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 9/7 K/BB ratio across 10 innings (nine appearances) this season for the defending World Series champions. Rotoworld Today, 5:29 pm
  • Irvin allows five in no-decision Thursday
Cole Irvin allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Orioles’ 17-5 victory over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Irvin gave up five hits, walked two and struck out two. He didn’t complete five innings and thus didn’t qualify for the win in the Orioles’ blowout victory, a brutal beat for fantasy managers. Irvin is having a solid year with a 3.45 ERA and six wins. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Guardians at home next week. Rotoworld Today, 4:32 pm
