    Quantrill (2-3) earned the win over San Francisco on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

    Advice: The only run and only extra-base hit Quantrill allowed came on a fourth-inning Michael Conforto solo homer. The right-handed hurler was otherwise in control throughout, as no other baserunner reached third base against him. Quantrill picked up his second straight win, and he has five quality starts over his past six appearances.   • Michael Wacha turns in quality start in victory
    Michael Wacha picked up a win Thursday after allowing three runs — two earned — in six innings against the Angels.

    Reid Detmers was tagged for six runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Royals.

    Advice: Detmers gave up a pair of two-run homers to Dairon Blanco and Vinnie Pasquantino in a four-run third. He wasn’t bad otherwise — he allowed just two other hard-hit balls — but luck wasn’t on his side tonight. He’s lost four straight games after opening up 3-0, and his ERA stands at 4.96.     Advice: Myers was a bit all over the place in this one as he racked up six strikeouts, issued four walks, and needed 84 pitches (50 strikes) to complete four frames. A third-inning solo shot by Lars Nootbaar represented the lone tally against him, but he wasn’t able to get deep enough into the contest to pick up a win.     Advice: Gray was tagged for a season-high three round-trippers in this one after allowing just one long ball in his previous five starts combined. The dismal outing also snapped a five-start streak in which he allowed two earned runs or fewer to kick off his Cardinals debut. The only positives here were that he struck out six and only issued one walk.     Advice: Lively got into trouble right away as Andrew Vaughn, Paul DeJong and Tommy Pham got to him for run-scoring hits in the first two frames, which was more than enough to saddle him with a loss. He struck out two and also issued three walks. The 32-year-old journeyman has been an unexpected bright spot for Cleveland this season, registering a sparkling 2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26/9 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (five starts). He managed to limit New York’s formidable lineup to just a two-run homer by Anthony Volpe into the middle innings, which was enough to hang on for his fourth win of the year.
