• Goes three frames in start
Winckowski took a no-decision Saturday versus the Cubs, spinning three shutout inning while yielding only three hits. He struck out one.

Advice: Winckowski was making his second start following seven relief appearances, hence the reason he was pulled after just three innings and 52 pitches. He permitted a pair of baserunners in both the first and second frames but had a clean third inning to finish off his night. With Nick Pivetta (elbow) unlikely to be ready next week, Winckowski will probably be needed for at least one more start. However, he's simply still not stretched out enough to offer any real fantasy value. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

  • Lasts just 3.2 innings in start
Brown (0-1) was saddled with the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings against the Red Sox. He struck out four.

Advice: Tyler O'Neill clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning to getting the scoring started in what turned out to be a blowout victory for Boston. Brown was pitching on three days' rest after throwing an inning of relief on Tuesday, which surely contributed to him being pulled after 61 pitches. The rookie's usage has been erratic and unusual, but the results had been pretty good prior to this outing. If Brown gets another start -- which wouldn't appear to be guaranteed -- it will likely come either on the road against the Mets or at home versus the Brewers. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Rocked by Reds
Lorenzen (2-1) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on six hits and a walk over six-plus innings in an 8-4 loss to Cincinnati. He struck out three.

Advice: The veteran right-hander came out firing, striking out the first two batters he faced, but things began to go sideways for Lorenzen in the second frame. Even so, he'd put together a quality start through six innings, but manager Bruce Bochy let him begin the seventh and Lorenzen hit Tyler Stephenson with a pitch before serving up a homer to Jonathan India. He left the mound after exactly 100 pitches (68 strikes), and Lorenzen will take a 4.24 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 14:9 K:BB through 17 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Kansas City. • Plates two, steals base
Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with two RBI while netting his first stolen base of the season in Saturday's 7-4 victory over the Mets.

Advice: Goldschmidt one-hopped a two-run double off the wall as part of a four-run first inning for the Cardinals. He also added an infield single, a stolen base and another run scored. The former MVP did also strike out three times Saturday and has fanned at an elevated 30.1 percent. The production on the whole has ticked up over the past week, though, with Goldschmidt going 9-for-27 (.333) with one home run and four RBI. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
  • Launches first homer of 2024
India went 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugged a two-run homer off Michael Lorenzen in the seventh inning, giving the Reds what proved to be crucial insurance runs after they'd jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. The long ball was India's first of 2024, and after managing only two multi-hit performances in his first 21 games, he's now racked up six knocks in the last two. Despite the big weekend he's putting together, he's still slashing just .222/.347/.309 on the season with two steals, eight RBI and 11 runs in 81 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Loads bases but nets save
Helsley struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to notch his ninth save of the season in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Mets.

Advice: Helsley made things interesting as he tried to protect a three-run advantage, loading the bases on two singles and a walk. However, with Francisco Lindor representing the go-ahead run he got the shortstop to pop out on the first pitch to end it. Helsley is 9-for-10 in save opportunities on the season and boasts a 1.80 ERA and 17:2 K:BB across 15 innings. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago
  • Picks up sixth save
Diaz pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Rangers to record his sixth save of the season.

Advice: It didn't look like the closer's services would be necessary when the Reds took an 8-0 lead into the ninth inning, but Brent Suter served up back-to-back homers to Davis Wendzel and Corey Seager, and Diaz had to enter the game with one out and the tying run on deck. He was up to the task, needing seven pitches (five strikes) to get the final two outs. While his velocity remains down -- his fastball topped out at 94.0 mph Saturday -- Diaz is still getting results, converting six of seven save chances this season with a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB through 11 innings. • Rotation spot secure for now
Houser (0-3) took the loss Saturday versus the Cardinals, permitting six runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.1 frames.

Advice: Houser notched just two strikeouts and needed 89 pitches to cover his 4.1 unimpressive innings. In five starts and 23.2 innings this season, Houser holds an 8.37 ERA and 14:16 K:BB. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after Saturday's game that Houser's spot in the rotation is not currently in jeopardy, per Laura Albanese of Newsday. However, with Tylor Megill (shoulder) starting a rehab assignment and youngster Christian Scott dominating at Triple-A Syracuse, Houser had better right the ship in a hurry.
