    • Quantrill allows two runs in no-decision
Cal Quantrill allowed two runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Rockies’ 4-3 victory over the Brewers on Thursday.

Advice: Quantrill gave up five hits, walked four and struck out two. He gave up two runs on a two-run single by Andrew Monasterio in the fourth inning. His ERA is 3.77, but with a 4.38 xFIP and 74 strikeouts on the season he’s tough to stream while pitching half of his games at Coors Field let alone roster. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Reds on the road next week.

    • Goes deep in blowout loss
Keith went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 12-3 loss to the Twins, which was called after seven innings due to rain.

Advice: Keith was a bright spot for the Tigers on an ugly afternoon in Minneapolis. The young second baseman now has consecutive multi-hit efforts, and he's tripled and gone deep during the stretch. Overall, Keith has been so-so this year with a .236 average and .620 OPS, though he's been better from May onward after a rough first month in the majors. There's still potential for a big finish from the 22-year-old rookie. Rotowire.com Today, 6:25 pm

    • Sitting down Thursday
Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during Wednesday's loss, and he'll get a breather during Thursday's rubber match. Austin Barnes will start at catcher instead and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:07 pm

    • Calf remains tight
Diaz said his calf is still a little bit tight Thursday, which is why he's not sprinting full out on the bases, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: Diaz was reinstated from the 10-day injured list June 30 after nursing a left calf strain. Since his return, the catcher is 6-for-18 with two doubles. However, it appears the calf injury is still lingering, as the 33-year-old says he will be careful about it. Rotowire.com Today, 2:52 pm

    • Jesús Sánchez comes single short of cycle vs. BOS
Jesús Sánchez doubled, tripled and homered in an extra-inning loss to the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Sánchez came just a single away from hitting for the cycle, which isn’t a common result. The 26-year-old’s homer was a big one, as it was a two-run shot that tied the game at 4-4 in the 11th inning. He was next on base in the 12th with a chance for the cycle, but Josh Bell struck out with two outs to prevent the chance. Sánchez is having his usual hot-and-cold season with a slash of .247/.297/.409 with nine homers and 33 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 1:49 pm

    • Jose Miranda goes 5-for-5 to lead Twins
Jose Miranda finished 5-for-5 with three doubles and four runs scored Thursday as the Twins topped the Tigers 12-3 in a rain-shortened game.

Advice: The contest was delayed in the bottom of the seventh and eventually called. Miranda has hit in eight straight games, raising his average to .312. Over the last 30 days, he’s hitting a robust .379/.434/.586 with as many extra-base hits as strikeouts (13). It seems like last year’s struggles really were all about his troublesome right shoulder, and he’s back looking very much like a long-term regular now. Rotoworld Today, 1:31 pm

    • Marcus Stroman allows three homers in loss to Reds
Marcus Stroman gave up five runs while hurling five innings in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: The long ball was a problem for Stroman, as he gave up three homers accounting for all five runs. He walked two and struck out six in a start that would have looked fine without the roundtrippers. That’s not how this works, unfortunately. Stroman will take a 3.58 ERA into his final start of the first half against the Rays on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 1:10 pm
    • Paul DeJong hits 16th homer in loss to Cleveland
Paul DeJong homered while driving in two runs in a loss to the Guardians on Thursday.

Advice: DeJong took Ben Lively deep with a runner on to pick up his 16th homer of the season and cut the Cleveland lead to 7-3. The power has been there for DeJong for the majority of 2024 with those roundtrippers and a .456 slugging mark. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s playing for a new team by the end of the month. • Chris Bassitt allows four to Astros over five
Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going. His final start before the break is scheduled Wednesday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Today, 12:52 pm
