  • Tough no-decision Sunday
    Paddack notched a no-decision decision Sunday despite allowing just two runs on three hits and no walks over eight innings against the Guardians. He struck out six.

  • Allows season-high seven runs
    Flexen (2-4) suffered the loss Sunday against the Yankees, allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out four.

    Advice: Flexen worked around an Anthony Volpe leadoff double in the first but struggled thereafter with a two-run blast by Aaron Judge with no one out in the fifth serving as the final blow. All told, Flexen allowed seven runs through four-plus innings, with much of the damage coming from the bottom of the Yankees lineup, including a two-run single by the eight-hole hitter, Jose Trevino, in the second and a three-run homer by Jon Berti, batting out of the nine hole, in the fourth. Flexen saw his ERA rise from 4.46 to 5.48 with the poor performance.   • Yields one hit over seven frames
    Manoah (1-1) picked up the win Sunday against Tampa Bay, allowing one hit and one walk with seven strikeouts across seven scoreless innings.

    Advice: After surrendering six runs in his 2024 debut, Manoah has fired back-to-back seven-inning starts without an earned run. Over those two starts, Manoah has punched out 13 batters and yielded five hits and a pair of walks. He'll look to keep rolling in next start, which tentatively lines up for Friday at Detroit.   • Lands six-out save
    Garrett earned the save Sunday against Miami, allowing one hit and no walks with four strikeouts over two scoreless innings.

    Advice: Garrett took the ball in the eighth with the Mets leading 4-3 and, after striking out the side and getting four runs of support, stayed out to complete the ninth. It's unclear if Garrett would still have gotten the save chance if New York didn't extend its lead, but he's still a candidate for saves moving forward with Edwin Diaz moving out of the closer role temporarily to get back on track.     Sanchez (0-2) took the loss Sunday against the Mets, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks across four innings. He struck out two.

    Advice: All four runs against Sanchez came in the first inning, when he walked two batters, hit another and allowed three hits. Sanchez threw 85 pitches, a step up after tossing 81 pitches in his last start. He's made five straight starts but is still in the process of being stretched out, and he has yet to complete five innings. Although Edward Cabrera (shoulder) started throwing off a mound Friday, Sanchez should get another turn in the rotation, which is scheduled for Saturday at Arizona.   • Cruises until fifth inning
    Hudson (1-7) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

    Advice: Hudson had a good start going until the fifth inning, as the Giants found success against him the third time through the order. Hudson has completed six innings just twice in nine starts, and he's failed to complete five frames in three of his last five outings. The right-hander has a poor 5.89 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 26:27 K:BB over 44.1 innings this season.   • Jackson Stephens elects free agency on Sunday
    Jackson Stephens has elected free agency.

    Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander refused his outright assignment to Triple-A Gwinnett from the Braves and will instead peddle his wares on the open market.   • Grabs four-out save
    Garcia allowed two hits over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn a save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Rangers. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

    Advice: Garcia had allowed a run in each of his last three appearances entering Sunday. He flirted with danger, allowing a hit after relieving Jose Soriano in the eighth inning and another knock in the ninth, which he erased with a double play. Garcia likely got the save chance Sunday because regular closer Carlos Estevez pitched two innings in Saturday's 13-inning loss.     Rea (3-2) allowed five runs on eight hits and four walks over 4.1 innings Sunday, striking out five and taking the loss against the Astros.

    Advice: Rea received a rude welcome with a four-run first inning by the Astros. He then managed to keep them in check until yielding another run in the fifth. Over his last three starts, Rea has registered a 7.20 ERA and has failed to complete five innings in two of those outings. The rough stretch has pushed his ERA from 2.67 to 4.07 through 48.2 frames.
