    • Clayton Kershaw to make rehab start on Wednesday
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will make his first minor league rehab start at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday.

Advice: Kershaw made it through another simulated game without issue on Thursday, so this was seemingly the most obvious next step for him. The 36-year-old hurler is going to need several outings there to build up his stamina and is expected to be ready to join the Dodgers’ rotation at some point around the All-Star break. • Up to 23 saves
Helsley worked around a pair of walks in the ninth inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cubs. He struck out two.

Advice: After recording the first two outs in the ninth, Helsley issued consecutive walks to Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ before ultimately striking out Nico Hoerner to close out the shutout victory while earning his MLB-leading 23rd save of the year. Helsley has yet to blow a save since March 30, his first appearance of the season. His ERA is down to 2.61 with a 1.13 WHIP and 35:10 K:BB across 31 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 2:11 pm

    • Ryan Helsley picks up 23rd save with hitless ninth
Ryan Helsley notched his 23rd save Friday with a hitless ninth against the Cubs.

Advice: Helsley walked a pair of batters with two outs, drawing a visit from the pitching coach, but he then struck out Nico Hoerner to end the game. Since it was his third appearance in four days, he might be down tomorrow, potentially giving Andrew Kittredge a save chance. Rotoworld Today, 2:05 pm

    • Could return Saturday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that it's a "possibility" Marsh (hamstring) is activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Marsh will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Friday and it sounds like that could be the only rehab game he needs if he comes out of it well. The outfielder has been sidelined since early June with a strained right hamstring. Rotowire.com Today, 1:51 pm

    • Brandon Marsh (hamstring) could return on Saturday
Phillies’ manager Rob Thomson told reporters on Friday that there’s a chance Brandon Marsh (hamstring) could return on Saturday.

Advice: They’ll wait and see how he feels after Friday’s minor league rehab game at Double-A Reading, but it sounds like his return is imminent. Marsh has been sidelined since early June due to a right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Today, 1:46 pm

    • Next step could be rehab stint
Kershaw (shoulder) completed three simulated innings at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, and he could be ready to pitch in rehab games with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, per MLB.com.

Advice: Kershaw's fastball hit 88-89 mph in the sim game, per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, which is in the range of his usual velocity over the past three seasons. Manager Dave Roberts proclaimed the future Hall of Famer to be "much further" along in his recovery than initially expected. Kershaw will almost certainly need to log multiple rehab starts, and the Dodgers are very unlikely to rush him back, but the southpaw could be ready to make his season debut sometime in July. • Good to go Friday
Arenado (hand) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Friday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old had X-rays come back negative on his right hand after being hit by a pitch Thursday, and he's apparently fine given he's back in the lineup a day later. Arenado is 8-for-20 with two doubles and two RBI in his past five games, and he has a .273/.340/.386 slash line through 12 contests in June. Rotowire.com Today, 8:33 am

    • Gets rout started
Walker went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Thursday's 11-1 win over the Angels.

Advice: Walker told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com that he was not happy with how he was handling fastballs, so he put in extra work in the batting cage this week. It paid off immediately when Walker belted a three-run homer off a four-seamer in the first inning to give Arizona a 3-0 lead. "I've been missing fastballs [and fouling them] straight back a little bit and it's been bothering me," Walker said. He followed that up a solo shot in the third -- a slider this time. The first baseman has three long balls over the last two games and leads the team with 15 home runs and 46 RBI through 69 contests. Rotowire.com Today, 4:47 am
    • Christian Walker homers twice in blowout victory
Christian Walker plated four runs while homering twice in a blowout victory over the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Walker made it 3-0 Diamondbacks in the first inning with his roundtripper off Griffin Canning with a pair of runners on. His second homer of the game came in the third inning, and it traveled an estimated 464 feet. That’s fair. Walker remains one of the more underappreciated sluggers in baseball with 15 homers and a .480 slugging mark over the first 69 games of the campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:14 pm
