    • Homers in loss
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Ramirez entered Thursday with no homers over his last five games, matching his longest drought since he went eight contests from April 26 to May 4 without a long ball. The third baseman upped his power in late May and is now at 17 homers this season, with eight of them coming since May 17. He's added a stellar .276/.335/.552 slash line with 60 RBI, 47 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 13 doubles and one triple over 60 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:48 pm
    • Evan Phillips allows three runs in non-save spot
Evan Phillips was charged with three runs in the eighth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

Advice: Phillips got the call for his first appearance in nearly a week with the Dodgers leading by seven runs at the time and wound up surrendering four hits, including a three-run homer to Oneil Cruz. Fortunately, his struggles didn’t end up impacting the final result of the contest, but it certainly doesn’t do fantasy managers any favors in the ratio departments. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:51 pm
    • MRI reveals bone spur in Joe Musgrove’s elbow
Joe Musgrove underwent an MRI that revealed a bone spur and contusion in his right elbow.

Advice: Musgrove, who landed on the injured list last weekend with right elbow inflammation, received both a PRP and cortisone injections to address the issue and hopes to resume throwing in roughly two weeks. The 31-year-old righty told reporters arthroscopic surgery is possible if the issue doesn’t improve, but that’s not being considered as an option for now. He’ll go the rest-and-rehabilitation route in an effort to get back on the mound for San Diego in a couple weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:45 pm

    • Diagnosed with bone spur
Musgrove has been diagnosed with a bone spur and a bone bruise in his right elbow, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Musgrove got PRP and cortisone injections with the hope of resuming throwing in two weeks. However, there is also the caveat that surgery will be required if healing does not occur. That leaves Musgrove's potential timeline to return to the mound unclear, though it would be surprising to see him back on the mound prior to the All-Star break based on this most recent news. • Eloy Jiménez to start rehab assignment next week
Eloy Jiménez (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: The oft-injured slugger has been out since mid-May with a left hamstring strain and is expected to be sidelined for at least a couple additional weeks. The 27-year-old has struggled to a .668 OPS with five homers in 146 plate appearances this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:30 pm

    • Rehab assignment on tap
Manager Pedro Grifol said Thursday that Jimenez (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment next week, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

Advice: Jimenez was initially given a one-month return timeline when he landed on the IL on May 22 with a left hamstring strain, but he appears to already be approaching a return to game action. It's unclear exactly when the 27-year-old will head to the minors or how long he'll remain there, but the White Sox will likely be eager to return him to their lineup as soon as possible given their offense's poor performance to start the year. • José Ramírez homers, drives in two against Royals
José Ramírez homered and drove in two runs in a loss Thursday to the Royals.

Advice: J-Ram took Brady Singer deep for his 17th homer of the season. He also drove in a run with an infield single. The 31-year-old has been outstanding in 2024 with 60 RBI, nine stolen bases and an .887 OPS. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:12 pm
    • Out against left-hander
Mullins is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Toronto.

Advice: The last time Mullins made a start against a lefty came back on May 15 against Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi is on the mound again for Thursday's tilt, but Mullins will begin the series finale on the bench. Colton Cowser will patrol center field Thursday while Austin Hays handles left field. • Collects 12th steal
Mullins went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Mullins has seen his playing time dip amid his prolonged struggles at the plate. He's gone just 9-for-73 (.123) with a 3:24 BB:K over 26 contests since the start of May, though he has managed to pick up six steals in that span despite his troubles getting on base. Mullins is slashing a meager .178/.225/.314 with 12 steals, six home runs, 22 RBI and 23 runs scored over 182 plate appearances this year. Austin Hays and Colton Cowser have been the main players to benefit from Mullins' decreased playing time, and the Orioles aren't short on prospects to call up if they choose to mix up the composition of outfielders on their roster.
