• Still not throwing regularly
Cabrera (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing after a May 17 bullpen session, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Marlins elected to shut Cabrera down after the session, and the club is still trying to figure out the best plan for the right-hander to begin ramping up again. He received an injection in his shoulder May 8, but his stop-start progress since then isn't encouraging. It seems unlikely Cabrera will be back in the big-league rotation before late June. • On base three times Friday
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk and a double in Friday's loss to the Tigers.

Advice: It marks the fourth time in the last seven games that Guerrero has banged out multiple hits. The first baseman has put a sluggish start to the season behind him, and over the last month he's slashing .382/.455/.517 in 23 games with two homers, a steal, 13 runs and 14 RBI. • Cristopher Sánchez limits Rockies to one run
Cristopher Sánchez held the Rockies to one run in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: Sánchez’s velocity has been great in his last two starts, though it didn’t lead to strikeouts tonight (two) at Coors Field like it did last time (eight) against the Nationals. Sánchez lowered his ERA to 3.15, but he remained stuck on two wins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:49 pm
  • Corbin Burnes solid for six in downing White Sox
Corbin Burnes allowed three runs over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the White Sox.

Advice: He struck out six and walked two. This season has not seen Burnes at his absolute best, but neither has he faltered at any point; he still hasn’t allowed more than three runs or pitched fewer than five innings in any of his 11 starts. His next turn will come against the Red Sox. It’s the only team he’s completed seven innings against this year, doing so in a 7-1 victory on Apr. 9. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:16 pm
  • Collects third win
Cano (3-2) allowed a run on one hit and struck out two over one inning Friday, blowing a save but earning the win over the White Sox.

Advice: Cano gave up a game-tying solo home run to Andrew Vaughn in the seventh inning, but the Orioles retook the lead in the eighth. Cano's allowed four runs over 3.2 innings across his last six appearances, adding two blown saves and two holds in that span. He has a 3.18 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB over 22.2 innings while picking up two saves, 11 holds and three blown saves. He's still part of the high-leverage mix, but his recent inconsistency may force manager Brandon Hyde to turn to another reliever for save chances if Craig Kimbrel is unavailable at any point. • Blasts homer Friday
Soto went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Friday's 8-0 win over the Padres.

Advice: Soto's homer stretched the Yankees' lead to 3-0 in the third inning. The superstar outfielder has gone 11-for-27 (.407) with five homers and nine RBI over his last seven contests. This was his fourth multi-hit effort in that span, lifting his slash line to .315/.413/.581 through 53 games this season. Soto has added 14 homers, 43 RBI, 39 runs scored, four stolen bases, 10 doubles and a triple. The Yankees have won 10 of their last 12 games, and Soto's been doing his part to contribute to that success. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:42 pm

  • Juan Soto homers, doubles against former club
Juan Soto homered and doubled in the Yankees’ 8-0 rout of the Padres on Friday.

Advice: Revenge game? Soto was facing his former club, and he kept doing what he’s done for the overwhelming majority of 2024. The 25-year-old scorched one of four homers Yu Darvish gave up on the evening, and he’s gone deep 14 times in his first year in New York. Soto also doubled and walked, and any questions about how he’d handle the pressure of New York have been answered with a resounding “pretty easily.” Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:26 pm

  • Earns quality start in loss
Gallen (5-4) allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings to take the loss versus the Marlins on Friday.

Advice: Gallen produced his longest outing of the season and his fourth straight quality start, but the Diamondbacks' offense couldn't get anything going as Miami starter Braxton Garrett tossed a shutout. Gallen has permitted more than three runs just once in 10 starts this season, pitching to a 3.12 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 60:15 K:BB over 57.2 innings. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rangers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:21 pm
  • Yields one run in Colorado
Sanchez did not factor into the decision Friday against the Rockies, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Despite allowing eight baserunners, Sanchez managed to hold the Rockies offense in check with a 52.5 percent groundball rate. Surprisingly, the Phillies lefty collected only two strikeouts despite generating 11 whiffs in his 83 total pitches. Sanchez has thrown 54.1 innings this season, producing a 3.15 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 49:19 K:BB. The 27-year-old is currently scheduled to face the Giants on the road in his next start.
