• Set for another rehab outing
Topa (knee) reached 94 mph during a rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A St. Paul and will make another appearance on May 5, MLB.com reports. He's given up two runs in three innings with five strikeouts and no walks during three rehab outings.

Advice: Topa began the season on the shelf with left patellar tendinitis and it's taken him longer than initially expected to return. He had lower than usual velocity in his first two outings, so he may finally be ready to be activated from the injured list in a few days. Rotowire.com 37 minutes ago

  • Doesn't go deep enough to win
Dunning allowed two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Saturday.

Advice: Texas jumped out a 7-0 lead through four innings, which appeared to set Dunning up for an easy win. Meanwhile, the right-hander cruised through those four frames, facing the minimum 12 batters. However, Dunning ran into trouble in the top of the fifth, allowing four Royals to reach base in a span of five hitters, resulting in two runs and a two-out hook. That prevented Dunning from qualifying for the victory, which would have given him his first winning streak of the campaign. He still managed to lower his season ERA slightly to 4.10, but it was a disappointing outing after Dunning punched out 10 batters in a dominant win his previous time on the mound. • Homer, steal in win
Wisdom went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Wisdom, who exceeded 20 homers each of the past three seasons, finally got on the board with his first long ball of 2024. He also added his second steal of the season, and his second steal since the calendar flipped to May. Wisdom has totaled just 20 at-bats since he returned from the injured list April 18, as most of his playing time has come against left-handed pitching, though he's now been the DH in two of the Cubs' last three games versus opposing right-handers. • Ugly outing in Chicago
Myers (0-2) took the loss to the Cubs on Saturday, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks over three innings. He struck out two batters.

Advice: Nico Hoerner and Christopher Morel touched Myers up for homers, sending the right-hander to his second loss in three starts. Walks had not been an issue for Myers in his first two turns, as he walked only one batter in his first 10 innings, but he couldn't find the strike zone and/or didn't trust his stuff enough on this particular day to fill up the zone. While it was a step backward, Myers projects to remain in the rotation for the time being with DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) still without definitive timetables. • Swats first homer
Hedges went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Saturday in a 7-1 victory versus the Angels.

Advice: Hedges put the Guardians on the board in the second inning, plating two runs with a blast to left field. The long ball was the veteran catcher's first of the season and just his fourth hit overall through 31 plate appearances. Both Hedges and fellow backstop Bo Naylor (who played DH on Saturday) have struggled mightily in the early part of the campaign, though each went deep Saturday as the duo combined to drive in six of Cleveland's seven runs. • Phil Maton picks up save Saturday against Mets
Phil Maton hurled a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday against the Mets to net his first save of the season.

Advice: Maton got the call on Saturday to protect a narrow two-run advantage after Jason Adam tossed a scoreless eighth inning in a tie ballgame. He issued a one-out walk to Harrison Bader, but managed to retire Brett Baty and pinch-hitter DJ Stewart to preserve the victory. It’ll be Adam picking up the majority of the save chances for Tampa Bay with Pete Fairbanks sidelined, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Maton continue to vulture the occasional opportunity. • Homers off bench Saturday
Merrifield went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and a walk in Saturday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Merrifield didn't start the game but entered in the third inning for the injured Alec Bohm (hip) and wound up going deep off reliever Erik Miller later in the contest. Bohm is expected to be fine, but Merrifield could potentially see more action at second base in the coming weeks if the Phillies decide to shift Bryson Stott over to shortstop some days to cover for Trea Turner (hamstring). Merrifield is slashing .250/.308/.417 with two home runs and three steals over 16 games this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:27 pm

  • Knocks in two runs Saturday
Toro went 2-for-5 with a two-run single and three runs in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Toro extended Oakland's lead to 9-0 in the third inning with his timely single, pushing his RBI total to 13 to draw him into a tie with JJ Bleday for third place on the Athletics. The 27-year-old has been a steady offensive presence for the surprising A's, and he's now posted four consecutive two-hit tallies as part of an eight-game hitting streak overall. • Productive in second game back
Davis went 2-for-4 with a run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Davis returned from a stint on the injured list in the series opener Friday and went 0-for-3, but he authored one of seven multi-hit efforts for the Athletics in Saturday's 20-4 win. The veteran hadn't recorded more than one knock in a game since April 3, and Saturday's production snapped an 0-for-13 skid. Rotowire.com Today, 9:12 pm
