    Advice: Jackson allowed a solo home run to Bryan Reynolds in the seventh inning, but the Giants pulled ahead with a five-run eighth. Jackson has been scored on in four of his last five outings, allowing multiple baserunners each time he's given up at least a run. The homer was the first he's allowed all year.   • Ineffective again Thursday
    Faedo allowed three runs on three hits and a walk across 1.2 innings of relief in Thursday's 9-1 loss to the Blue Jays. He struck out one.

    Advice: After starting the season with a 2.25 ERA across his first 14 appearances, Faedo has allowed runs in his last three outings, and he has a 9.00 ERA during that stretch. The righty was a middling starter the last two years, and while he's looked a little better out of the bullpen, he may be regressing closer to his career 4.67 ERA.   • Works behind opener
    Black allowed four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings versus the Pirates on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision.

    Advice: Black has been inconsistent as a starter this season, and his first turn working behind an opener was arguably even worse. He's allowed at least four runs in three of his four appearances, and this was the first time he failed to complete three innings. Black has an 8.79 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB over 14.1 innings on the year.   • Loses again Thursday
    Wesneski (2-3) allowed a run on one hit across 1.2 innings of relief to take the loss Thursday against Atlanta. He had no walks and struck out two.

    Advice: Chicago starter Ben Brown tossed four scoreless innings but left with the game tied 0-0. Wesneski took over and promptly allowed a solo home run to Jarred Kelenic, which was enough to get saddled with the loss in what ended up as a 3-0 Atlanta victory. The righty started the season by earning wins in each of his first two appearances, but he's 0-3 across eight outings since then, though he does have a solid 2.55 ERA during this stretch.   • Back-to-back blown saves
    Beeks allowed a run on two hits and struck out one over two-thirds of an inning to take a blown save versus the Athletics on Thursday.

    Advice: Beeks gave up a game-tying solo home run to Daz Cameron in the ninth inning. This was Beeks' second straight blown save, and it appears his high-wire act of allowing multiple baserunners in five straight contests is starting to come back to haunt him. On the year, Beeks has a 2.74 ERA, but a 1.35 WHIP and a 17:12 K:BB through 23 innings suggest he's been lucky to attain that level of run prevention.     Hendricks allowed two runs on four hits across two innings of relief in Thursday's 3-0 loss to Atlanta. He walked one and struck out one.

    Advice: After allowing eight runs (seven earned) across 4.2 innings in his last start to push his ERA up to 10.57, Hendricks got bumped to the bullpen. The veteran made his first relief appearance of the season Thursday, and while he actually lowered his ERA to 10.47, it wasn't a particularly inspiring effort. Hendricks has never been a big strikeout pitcher, relying instead on sharp control to fuel his success, but he's fallen off in a big way so far this year.   • Good start goes to waste
    Feltner allowed four hits and two walks while striking out six over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Thursday.

    Advice: This was arguably Feltner's best start of the campaign, but it was all for nothing when six Rockies relievers all gave up at least one run. The Athletics rallied to erase three deficits before ultimately winning in the 11th inning. Feltner's winless skid is at seven games, and he remains 1-4 on the year with a 5.07 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 48:16 K:BB through 55 innings over 10 starts.     Estes allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking none over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Thursday.

    Advice: Estes was much better Thursday than in his previous start, landing 73 of his 93 pitches for strikes. That efficiency gave him his longest outing of the season, though it was far from a strong showing. The Rockies got to him for two runs in each of the first and sixth innings, but the Athletics' comeback got him off the hook for the loss. Estes is at a 7.47 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings over three starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rays.
