      Arcia is still not eating solid food after having an abscessed tooth pulled, and Atlanta might wind up placing him on the injured list, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

      Advice: The shortstop is fighting an infection he developed before the tooth was extracted. "All he's getting in him right now, is kind of the [protein] shakes and soup and things like that," manager Brian Snitker said Thursday. "So we were hoping we could maybe get him over here today and move around a little bit. We'll get him out here [Friday]." Arcia hasn't played since June 30 and slashed just .155/.217/.238 through 92 plate appearances last month.       Advice: Bogaerts, who was at designated hitter on Thursday in his rehab assignment debut, is working his way back from a fractured left shoulder that sent him to the injured list back on May 20. The 31-year-old figures to return as San Diego’s primary option at the keystone, but could wind up bouncing around between several positions moving forward.     • Struggles in Independence Day loss
      Stroman (7-4) took the loss against Cincinnati on Thursday, pitching five innings and allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings.

      Advice: Stroman struggled to keep the ball in the park Thursday -- of the five hits he allowed, three were long balls, and all five of the runs he yielded came on home runs. The right-hander hadn't been prone to the long ball coming in, as he hadn't given up a homer in three of his prior four stats. Stroman hasn't been pitching particularly well of late, though, as he has a 6.43 ERA across 21 frames covering his past four outings.       Advice: Burnes, who welcomed twins over the weekend, was strong in his return to the mound. He threw 62 of 94 pitches for strikes, but he gave up both runs in the fifth inning, including one on a solo home run by Julio Rodriguez. Burnes has posted a quality start in all but one of his last 13 outings, though this was just the second time in his last seven starts that he didn't come away with a win. He has an excellent 2.32 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 105:25 K:BB through 112.2 innings over 18 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs and should be set to pitch on a regular schedule with the Orioles electing for a five-man rotation moving forward.       Corbin Burnes struck out six and allowed two runs over six innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

      Advice: Burnes set down 12 straight batters to open the contest, and carried a shutout into the fifth inning, before coughing up a gargantuan solo homer to Mariners struggling superstar Julio Rodríguez. He proceeded to load the bases with nobody out in the frame, but managed to wriggle out of the jam with only one run crossing the plate. The overall strikeout total doesn’t seem that impressive, but he generated an eye-popping 18 swinging strikes and finished with a 31 percent CSW. The 29-year-old fantasy ace will bring a sparkling 2.32 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 105/25 K/BB ratio across 112 2/3 innings (18 starts) into a home outing on Wednesday against the Cubs in his final start prior to the Midsummer Classic.
