• Jake Fraley (illness) returns to action on Friday
Jake Fraley (illness) returned to the Reds’ starting lineup for Friday night’s contest against the Orioles.

Advice: Fraley missed the better part of three weeks while battling the illness that was making its way through the Reds’ clubhouse — then developed bronchitis after returning to the lineup for a couple of days. It’s strange to see him in the lineup against a left-hander, but fantasy managers have to be pleased to see his name in the lineup card at all these days. He’ll bat eighth against Cole Irvin and the Orioles. Rotoworld 1 minute ago

  • Jake McCarthy not in Diamondbacks lineup on Friday
Jake McCarthy is not in the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s matchup against the Padres.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a day of rest for the 26-year-old outfielder, who has been functioning as the team’s regular leadoff hitter against right-handed pitching. Pavin Smith will start in his place and bat atop the D’Backs’ lineup on Friday night against Dylan Cease and the Padres. Rotoworld 4 minutes ago
  • Lands on injured list
The Twins placed Buxton on the 10-day injured list Friday with right knee inflammation, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Advice: The MRI on his right knee didn't show any structural damage, and GM Derek Falvey indicated Buxton may only require a minimum-length stay on the injured list. However, given the 30-year-old's injury history, there's hardly a guarantee this absence is a brief one. Austin Martin is joining the Twins in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Joey Wimer leaves game with apparent knee injury
Joey Wiemer was removed from Friday afternoon’s contest against the Cubs after suffering an apparent knee injury in the ninth inning.

Advice: Wiemer was fielding a ball off the bat of Nico Hoerner in the eighth inning when it appeared as though his cleat got caught in the grass, causing his knee to buckle. He was able to walk off the field under his own power, though he was hobbling quite a bit. He’ll head for further testing. Rotoworld 8 minutes ago

  • Exits with apparent knee injury
Wiemer was removed from Friday's game versus the Cubs with an apparent left knee injury, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Wiemer's knee buckled on him as he was retrieving Nico Hoerner's single down the left field line in the bottom of the eighth inning. After a brief conversation with the trainer, Wiemer walked off the field gingerly. The Brewers should have more on his condition after the game. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Twins recall Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul
Twins recalled INF/OF Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: The versatile 25-year-old was just optioned out to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, but he’ll return to add depth on the Twins’ bench with Byron Buxton (knee) landing on the injured list. Martin has hit .226/.294/.371 with on homer, six RBI and a pair of stolen bases in 68 plate appearances with the big league club this season. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

  • Byron Buxton (knee) lands on 10-day injured list
Twins placed OF Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation.

Advice: The Twins haven’t commented publicly on the results of Buxton’s MRI exam yet, but the fact that they’re terming the injury as only inflammation and not anything structural is certainly encouraging. There’s obviously no timeline yet on how long he’ll be sidelined for. Austin Martin was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move to take his place on the active roster. • Undergoes surgery
Trout underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The three-time American League MVP suffered the injury Monday against the Phillies, and there wasn't much of a delay before he went under the knife. Trout remains without an official timeline for his return, but he'll rehab in Anaheim for the foreseeable future and should be considered out indefinitely. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Taking dry swings
Thomas (knee) has been cleared to take dry swings, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: It's been a little over a week since Thomas was diagnosed with an MCL sprain of his left knee and he's now easing back into baseball activities. There is no timetable for the outfielder's return, but he's almost surely several weeks away. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago
