• Still experiencing thumb soreness
Yoshida is still experiencing discomfort in his left thumb and will be examined by a specialist Wednesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Yoshida could receive additional opinions, too, saying Wednesday that he's been told it's "a rare injury" he's dealing with and he's trying to determine the best way to proceed. He's been out for all of May with the injury and a timetable remains very much up in the air. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • David Fry hits game-tying homer in ninth
David Fry hit a game-tying homer off Andrew Chafin in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Some curious bullpen management from the Tigers today got Fry a good matchup against a lefty in the ninth and he wound up with his second homer. This was actually a rare start against a righty for Fry, but he went 0-for-3 against them. The homer off Chafin made him 10-for-24 with four extra-base hits, 10 walks and two HBPs versus lefties this season. That’s a ridiculous .595 OBP. Unfortunately, an expanded role for Fry seems even less likely now that Kyle Manzardo is up. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Returns from injured list
The Red Sox activated Gonzalez (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Gonzalez missed nearly a month of action with a left wrist sprain but has been cleared to return after playing three rehab games. The utility player is starting at first base and batting seventh for Boston on Wednesday in Atlanta. Rotowire.com 56 minutes ago

  • Moves rehab to Triple-A
Gallo (shoulder) went 0-for-4 with a walk, a run and an RBI on Tuesday in a rehab game for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Gallo went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and three walks between a pair of rehab games for Single-A Fredericksburg over the weekend and received the green light to move his assignment to a higher-level affiliate. He served as Syracuse's designated hitter Tuesday but could see action at first base and in the corner outfield for the remainder of his rehab assignment. Gallo may have to settle for a part-time role once the Nationals bring him back from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 1:11 pm

  • Getting Wednesday off
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: With southpaw Mitchell Parker on the hill for Washington, the left-handed-hitting O'Hearn will retreat to the bench. Adley Rutschman will get a day off from catching duties and will fill in for O'Hearn as Baltimore's designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 1:04 pm

  • Idle against lefty
Fraley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Fraley and fellow lefty hitter Will Benson will head to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Jordan Montgomery toes the slab for Arizona. Luke Maile and Stuart Fairchild will join the lineup as the starters at designated hitter and in right field, respectively, while Fraley and Benson sit. Rotowire.com Today, 12:45 pm

  • Sitting against lefty
Benson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Benson and fellow lefty hitter Jake Fraley will head to the bench Wednesday while southpaw Jordan Montgomery toes the slab for Arizona. Stuart Fairchild and Luke Maile will join the lineup as the starters in right field and designated hitter, respectively, while Benson and Fraley sit. Rotowire.com Today, 12:45 pm

  • Taking seat Wednesday
McCarthy is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Advice: McCarthy maintains a .369 on-base percentage over 86 plate appearances this season and has seemingly moved into an everyday role in the outfield while Alek Thomas (hamstring) is on the shelf, but the 26-year-old will hit the bench Wednesday. The Diamondbacks haven't indicated that the lefty-hitting McCarthy is dealing with an injury, but he was lifted for a pinch hitter in Tuesday's 6-2 win and is now on the bench Wednesday while the Reds bring a right-hander (Graham Ashcraft) to the hill. Pavin Smith will replace McCarthy in the Arizona outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 12:22 pm
  • Jo Adell homers, knocks in two to lead Angels
Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the Angels edged the Pirates 5-4 on Wednesday.

Advice: Adell, who hit second in three straight games last week, entered in a 1-for-20 slump, so he was back down to eighth in the Angels lineup today. Manager Ron Washington keeps trying to go with the hot hand at the top of the order, but he can’t seem to get the timing right. Adell is batting .259/.311/.506, which is the best line sported by any currently healthy Angels player. Rotoworld Today, 12:20 pm
