Carlos Rodón allowed two runs with seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Advice: Rodón served up a solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the first inning. He settled in nicely, tossing five more scoreless frames. Rodón went back out for the seventh gave up a run on two hits before his day was done with one out in the frame. He struck out seven on an impressive 16 whiffs. • Eugenio Suárez has sock and a shoe to lead D’Backs
Eugenio Suárez went 2-for-3 with a homer and a stolen base on Wednesday night, leading the Diamondbacks to a 4-3 victory over the Reds in Cincinnati.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger was hit by a pitch to start the fourth inning, then stole his first base of the season, but the Diamondbacks couldn’t cash him in. He then added a valuable insurance run with a two-out, 390-foot (104.4) solo shot off of Lucas Sims that extended the Diamondbacks’ lead to 4-2 — and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. With his two-hit attack, Suárez is now hitting .226/.295/.346 with three long balls and 20 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
  • Joe Mantiply closes out Reds on Wednesday night
Joe Mantiply picked up his first save of the season on Wednesday night, bailing out Kevin Ginkel to protect a one-run lead against the Reds.

Advice: Paul Sewald had already pitched on Tuesday night, and the Diamondbacks didn’t want to go to him on back-to-back days just yet, so it was Paul Sewald that came on to protect a two-run advantage in the ninth inning. After he allowed a run on a walk and a pair of singles though, manager Torey Lovullo turned to Mantiply to put out the fire with runners at first and third and the lead whittled down to run. He understood the assignment, getting Will Benson on strikes and Jonathan India on a fly ball to right to end it. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
  • Kevin Ginkel struggles in save chance on Wednesday
Kevin Ginkel struggled in a save chance against the Reds on Wednesday night, giving up a run on two hits and a walk while recording only one out.

Advice: Ginkel came on with a two-run lead to protect, but things got interesting in a hurry as Jake Fraley drew a walk, Jeimer Candelario smacked a one-out single and TJ Friedl tacked on an RBI single. That caused manager Torey Lovullo to have a quick hook, getting Joe Mantiply to come out and finish the job. With Paul Sewald back, Ginkel wasn’t going to hold down the closer’s gig any longer, but if he did still have any leash in the role, it may have evaporated on Wednesday. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
  • Montgomery goes seven strong in victory over Reds
Jordan Montgomery delivered a strong performance in Wednesday night’s victory over the Reds, allowing just two runs on seven hits over his seven frames.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw walked two and struck out two batters on the evening. The Reds pushed a run across in the second inning on a run-scoring single by Stuart Fairchild, then added another on an RBI double by Jeimer Candelario in the fourth. That was the extent of the damage. Montgomery got 10 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 29 percent. Now 2-2 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 4.70 ERA and 1.30 WHIP when he takes on these same Reds at home on Monday. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago
