    • Danny Jansen homers, drives in five in Jays’ win
Danny Jansen went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and five RBI as the Blue Jays bested the White Sox 9-3 on Monday.

Advice: Jansen, who hadn’t batted higher than fifth this season until today, had his big game from the second spot in the lineup. He’s batting .333/.397/.681 with five homers and just nine strikeouts through 78 plate appearances. It seems like more than just a hot streak, so he’s probably a top-10 fantasy catcher for the short term. Still, staying healthy has been quite an issue for the 29-year-old. • Paul DeJong goes 3-for-4, hits seventh homer
Paul DeJong went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a steal against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: Given his current approach, it almost seems like an accident whenever DeJong finishes an at-bat without a strikeout or a homer. Consequently, this was the third time in 42 games this season that he’d picked up multiple singles in a game. Still, he’s been one of the White Sox’s best players in hitting .246/.295/.462. • Andrew Benintendi goes hitless in loss to Jays
After taking a seat Sunday, Andrew Benintendi went 0-for-4 as the White Sox’s No. 5 hitter Monday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Benintendi really set the tone for the day when he went out of the strike zone and tapped into a double play on a 1-0 pitch from Jose Berríos in the second inning. The White Sox collectively went 4-for-5 against Berríos that inning, yet they wound up with only one run. Benintendi also made a half-hearted slide attempt at a flyball in the second to give Bo Bichette a double and, later in the game, allowed Bichette to tag up and go from second to third without a throw on a 320-foot fly to left-center. At this point, Benintendi belongs on the injured list or in the minors. The White Sox will keep playing him, though. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago
    • Optioned to Triple-A
The Mariners optioned Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Rivas has been up with the big club for nearly four weeks but has hardly played, accruing just six plate appearances. He'll see more regular action back a Tacoma. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

    • Collects five RBI
Jansen went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBI and two runs scored in Monday's victory over the White Sox.

Advice: This was the third time in Jansen's career that he has driven in five or more runs in a game, marking the first occurrence since Oct. 1, 2022. The highlight of 29-year-old catcher's day was launching a 377-foot homer off Jordan Leasure in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays backstop has swung a hot bat to open the season, slashing .333/.397/.681 over his first 78 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

    • Homers, steals base in loss
DeJong went 3-for-4 with a homer, a stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored in Monday's loss to Toronto.

Advice: DeJong cracked his seventh home run of the season in the fourth inning, hitting it 402 feet to center. The Chicago shortstop has enjoyed a hot start to May, hitting .288 (17-for-59) with four homers, 12 runs scored and eight RBI this month. Overall, DeJong is now slashing .246/.295/.462 in 139 plate appearances while playing shortstop every day for the White Sox. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

    • Available to pitch Monday
Astros manager Joe Espada said that Pressly (finger) will be available out of the bullpen Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Pressly has been off limits for a few days while dealing with soreness in a finger on his right hand, but it would seem he's fully recovered now. The veteran reliever has struggled this season, collecting a 5.51 ERA and 1.78 WHIP through 16.1 innings. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

    • Anthony Rendon walks uphill on treadmill
Anthony Rendon, on the 60-day IL with a hamstring tear, said he’s progressed to walking on an incline on a treadmill.

Advice: That still seems like it might be a few steps away from playing in a major league baseball game. Rendon was injured a month ago today and still has another month before he’ll be eligible to come off the IL. A return right after the All-Star break is probably the best-case scenario. • Tigers undecided on when to activate Kenta Maeda
The Tigers have yet to make a decision on whether they’ll activate Kenta Maeda to start this week.

Advice: Maeda allowed one run and struck out six in three-plus innings for Triple-A Toledo in his rehab start Sunday. He’s expected to get another shot in the Detroit rotation, but the Tigers could ask him to make one more rehab start and use Matt Manning again this week. Rotoworld 44 minutes ago
