    • Joey Loperfido posts three hits Friday at Triple-A
Joey Loperfido went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI on Friday for Triple-A Sugar Land.

Advice: Loperfido doesn’t have a ton of professional experience at first base, but there’s an opportunity for him to carve out a role there after Houston’s front office abruptly cut ties with veteran José Abreu on Friday afternoon. The 25-year-old slugger has some contact issues that could limit his upside for fantasy managers, but he’s definitely going to hit for power with an everyday opportunity. It feels like it’s time for the Astros to see what they have since he has almost nothing left to prove at Triple-A. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

    • Rips three extra-base hits
Moniak went 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, two RBI and one run scored in Friday's 8-6 win over the Giants.

Advice: Moniak supplied a two-run double in the third inning. He's hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-19 (.421) with five RBI, four walks and two stolen bases in that span. Kevin Pillar has been excellent since joining the Angels in May, but he'd been platooning with Moniak until recently. With Taylor Ward slumping, there's room for Pillar in left field and Moniak in center, though the latter will have to keep hitting to maintain his consistent playing time. Moniak is slashing .192/.241/.282 with two home runs, six doubles, one triple, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored and four steals over 166 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:07 pm

    • Mickey Moniak triples, doubles twice in victory
Mickey Moniak tripled and doubled twice while driving in a pair of runs in an 8-6 win over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: Both RBI came on one of those extra-base hits, as he gave the Halos a 4-0 lead with a two-run double. The first pick of the 2016 draft is still slashing an ugly .192/.241/.282, but he does have a six-game hitting streak. It’s possible this is the beginning of turning things around, but nothing Moniak has done over his career suggests that’s a reasonable ask. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:17 pm

    • Jack Suwinski homers and walks in victory
Jack Suwinski hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Suwinski also drew a walk. The 25-year-old showed some fantasy promise at times in 2024, and while there’s still 90-plus games to go for the Pirates and the outfielder, he has not lived up to that promise this season with a .173/.270/.315 slash. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:11 pm

    • Hits first homer of season
Taylor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals.

Advice: This was Taylor's first homer and second extra-base hit over 106 plate appearances this season. The veteran utility man has a pitiful .108/.200/.151 slash line with nine RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base over 39 contests. Taylor is usually able to carve out a steady role as a short-side platoon option at a variety of positions, but his poor hitting and the Dodgers' good health with their batters has prevented the 33-year-old from seeing anything close to regular playing time. • Tallies homer and steal
Pederson went 2-for-4 with a homer, a steal, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 7-1 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Pederson collected his fourth steal, marking the most he's had in a season since 2017 (his career-high is six, set in 2016). The veteran lefty bat flashed his power too, tattooing a 425-foot solo homer off Michael Soroka in the seventh for the Diamondbacks' final run of the evening. The 32-year-old Pederson has found new life in Arizona, slashing .291/.387/.521 over 197 plate appearances with nine homers, 24 runs scored and 30 RBI this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:32 pm
    • Andrew Benintendi reaches three times in loss
Andrew Benintendi went 2-for-2 with a walk in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: He also scored a run. One of Benintendi’s hits was a double, and it sadly improves his slash to .204/.245/.296 as he’s been one of the worst hitters over the first two and a half months of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:15 pm
    • Joc Pederson homers again in rout of White Sox
Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a homer, stolen base, two RBI and two runs scored in a 7-1 blowout win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Pederson’s homer is the ninth of the year, and the steal is the fourth for the 32-year-old in 2024. The veteran outfielder also drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. Pederson has been excellent as of late, and he’s now homered in back-to-back games. If the Diamondbacks fall out of this, he’s a strong candidate to be dealt before the deadline. • Expected to be fine
Cave received four stitches after being hit in the head by a line drive during pregame batting practice Friday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Although Cave had to be carted off the field following the incident, he said after Friday's game that he felt fine and that there isn't any reason to suspect he might have suffered a concussion. It's possible the Rockies keep the 31-year-old outfielder sidelined for another game or two just to be safe, but a trip to the injured list doesn't seem likely. Cave has slashed .238/.302/.305 with seven RBI through 116 plate appearances on the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:00 pm
